Even before releasing a joint statement with Nadine Lustre last Monday, January 20, on Tonight With Boy Abunda, James Reid previously hinted about a breakup by finally agreeing to a project with MOMOLAND’s Nancy McDonie.
James reportedly first declined the offer of starring with Nancy in the Soulmate Project TV series as Nadine was worried about the impact on their tandem.
The actor’s impending team up with the K-pop star apparently caused Ulysses Lustre, Nadine’s dad, to make a cryptic post on social media which said, “Facebook says, ‘What’s on your mind?’ I guess it means that I’m entitled to rant, once in a while.
“Here it goes: I’m a Flop and you’re High Gross, what are you afraid of? You feel so threatened, you’re desperate to break US apart.
“I hope someday you get what you deserve. What comes around goes around.”
The cryptic post was first thought to be an attack on Kathryn Bernardo but it was later found out that it was intended for ABS-CBN who had planned the separate project for James, seemingly to drive the JaDine love team apart.
“At last someone finally understood,” Ulysses replied to a JaDine supporter who commented about ABS-CBN’s plan of disbanding JaDine.
Speaking in an interview on Tonight With Boy Abunda last November 1, 2019, Nadine apologized for her father’s statement and said, “I’m not my dad so we don’t have the same brain, we don’t think alike.
“Kung sino man iyong na-offend niya or nasaktan niya by what he said, ako, humihingi na po ako ng paumanhin.
“But I talked to him about it, and I told him that it wasn’t right.”
Ulysses then remained silent after rumors of JaDine’s breakup circulated on the internet earlier this month.
With James taking back his role in The Soulmate Project, his supposed replacement Joshua Garcia, is now out of the show.
