Rocco Nacino admits he is worried as taping for Descendants of the Sun resumes because of the danger posed by COVID-19.
In a virtual press conference, the Kapuso actor said having close contact on the set can’t be avoided at all times which could cause transmission.
“Napag-uusapan nga din ‘yung pagbabalik sa taping. In my honest opinion, ando’n ‘yung takot ko kasi when you say taping, automatic, mass gathering na ‘yan.”
He also mentioned that it’s not just actors but also production crew are at risk.
“Hindi naman lahat ng kasama ko ay tulad ko na wala pang anak, wala pang pamilya. Ako, kaya ko pang mag-taping, pero ‘yung iba na may families nga, so that’s the scary thing.”
If he had a choice, he would want to wait for a COVID-19 vaccine before returning to taping.
“But ako, kung pwede, kahit walang income, mas okay na maghintay muna. Sure na may vaccine na tayo, may vaccine na lahat.”
GMA’s adaptation of Descendants of the Sun is an action romance series consisting of fight scenes and close contact with the characters, which includes kissing.
Rocco shared that the ‘new normal’ protocol could ruin the series.
“So ‘yung mga fight scene, mga scenes na tumutulong kami sa mga barrio, ‘yung mga usapan namin is not really following the guidelines already.
“So kunwari, ka-eksena ko si [Dingdong Dantes] o kung sino man, that’s already close contact. Napag-usapan namin parang nakakatakot din i-risk, masisira din ‘yung story, so it’s better to wait it out na lang when everything gets better kaya nakakatakot mag-taping.”
Rocco went on social media to talk abou the transitioning to the new normal, “Our new normal. Nowadays, three’s a crowd. Kung kailangan talaga lumabas, be strict with social distancing. Remind our fellow citizens kapag nakakalimot sila sa distancing. Tulong tulong tayo mga Kapuso.”
“On the side also, may mga small businesses din ako na tinututukan ngayon at the same time, we wanna help other people and have a little bit of profit. Makaraos lang.
“Pero hindi titigil ‘yung pag-ponder, pag-isip kung ano pa ang puwede kong gawin aside from doing tapings, ika nga.”
And aside from focusing on his small business, the actor spends his leisure time by playing video games.
