The denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise has resulted in the unemployment of thousands of employees, cancelation of favorite shows, and the discontinuation of some services.
The rejection of franchise, however, has also exposed stars ready to take the risk of standing by the network even if they earn the ire of bashers.
Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano shared how she was inspired by actress Bea Alonzo and Angel Locsin to finally be outspoken about how ABS-CBN was unfairly treated during the franchise hearings.
In an interview with Philstar News, Liza shared how it took its toll on her mental health.
The actress admitted that back then she was very scared to be vocal on her opinions in regarding this matter.
“I’m the type of person who really fights for what I believe in and I decided to make a choice to stand up for what I believe in as well. Before, I wasn’t that vocal just because I was scared of what people are going to say.”
But because of the confidence that Liza gathered from fellow artists like Angel Locsin who is very vocal in criticizing PH Government and the unjustified decision for the ABS CBN Franchise, the actress started to be vocal as well.
“I guess I gathered the confidence from other people I love and other women I admire like Ate Angel Locsin, Ate Bea Alonzo. When I saw them fight, it encouraged me to fight. I realized that I have to choose my battles and what I’m really trying to win,” she said.
Also one of the reasons that pushed her to be outspoken is because she’s using her voice to fight for children’s rights.
“I don’t know everything about the world, none of us do. But I try to understand as much as I can about the situation we’re facing and I’m trying my best to figure out what my true opinion is about it… It’s important to set aside your biases and re-educate yourself to really get into your core. Think for yourself.”
