Rita Avila defends celebrities who speak up against the government

This came after known die-hard Duterte supporter Arnell Ignacio called out Jennylyn Mercado for speaking up on current issues and criticizing government’s incompetence.

Veteran actress Rita Avila has been speaking up regarding the issues of the country.

After questioning the government’s inaction on the Philhealth corruption mess, Rita once more took to social media this time to defend fellow celebrities who are speaking up against the abuses of the current admin.

In an Instagram post, Avila questioned people who diss different opinions.

“Wala na ang panahong kahit iba-iba ang opinyon ay may respeto. Ngayon, kalaban ka kaagad ‘pag iba ka sa kanila. I am almost always careful of my words when I post but nothing can make them understand,”  said Rita.

“They claim na puro ‘reklamo’ ang mga tao against the gov’t. Eh kaninong gobyerno ba tayo dapat magsalita ng saloobin – sa gobyerno ni Emilio Aguinaldo?” she added.

Wala na ang panahong kahit iba-iba ang opinyon ay may respeto. Ngayon, kalaban ka kaagad pag iba ka sa kanila. I am almost always careful of my words when I post but nothing can make them understand. Yung “sana mabulag nga kayo” na sinabi ko, it was a kind of language used by many leaders now, a language that turns out as a joke or emotional burst. Many agreed with me but the dds got mad as usual. Paano pa kaya tayo who are the regular recipients of the jokes and emotional bursts? They claim na puro “reklamo” ang mga tao against the govt. DDS, noon I was charmed by the Pres during the campaign. Now, I simply say thank u pag may maayos syang nagawa. In one of my posts, I humbly asked for his empathy. My husband is pro. Kaaway nya mga kapatid nya. I have friends na pro, but we never fought. Think before leaving comments. Again, d magandang combination ang bulag, tanga, masama ugali. TRIPLE WHAMMIES. Hindi kayo yan. Ayaw nyo yan. PILIPINO TAYO. KAYA PA. #actors #artista #government #opinion #job #voice #heart #professionals #bluecollarjobs

In a Facebook post, Arnell posted an article about Jennylyn’s comment on Harry Roque’s SONA moment with a caption: “Payo lang, wag niyo na pasukin ang hindi ninyo linya. You have very successful.careers dahil mahusay kayo sa linyang pag aartista.

“Do not ever think the power of popularity will instantly translate into mastery of the political jungle.
Wawasakin ninyo mga careers ninyo.”

Meanwhile, Avila also advised Duterte’s fanatics especially in showbiz to stop being blinded, stop acting dumb and ill-mannered because it’s a deadly combination.

“Noon I was charmed by the Pres during the campaign. Now, I simply say thank u pag may maayos syang nagawa. In one of my posts, I humbly asked for his empathy. My husband is pro. Ayaw nyo yan. (Dapat lang d ba?) I-angat nyo ang mga sarili nyo. Naniniwala akong kaya nyo bigyan ng dangal ang sarili nyo. PILIPINO TAYO. KAYA PA,”  Avila said.
