Kapamilya actor Joshua Garcia has revealed that he reached out to his fellow actor Gerald Anderson in hopes of clearing the air between them. Joshua’s ex-girlfriend Julia Barretto was reportedly involved in Gerald’s breakup with Bea Alonzo.
Joshua made the revelation during a virtual interview for Cinema News at Home Edition on Friday, August 28. The 22-year-old actor was asked who he would prefer to have a ‘no holds barred conversation’ with during lockdown aside from his ex-girlfriend Julia.
He admitted that the question was a little hard for him because he said that those types of conversations should be with someone that you need something deep or important to discuss with. But he eventually answered that he would want that type of conversation with Gerald Anderson.
He said that he just wanted to clear the air between them as he mentioned that it is hard for him to be awkward with someone.
“Siguro si Kuya Gerald, pero hindi online. Hindi ko na kailangang i-online pa. Siya kasi na-realize ko nung quarantine, nung nag-lockdown, ang hirap, ang liit ng industriya namin diba. Ang hirap nung may ka-awkward-an,” said Joshua.
Joshua said that he would prefer to talk to the 31-year-old actor privately rather than airing their discussion online. He revealed that he sent a text message for Gerald regarding fixing the ‘awkwardness’ between them but the actor has yet to reply to him.
“Ang ginawa ko, tinext ko siya, sabi ko, ‘Bro, Joshua ito. Gusto ko lang maging maayos ‘yung lahat.’ Tinext ko siya ng ganun, pero hindi pa siya nagre-reply,” Joshua explained.
He said that leaving a text message for Gerald was the best thing that he could do in trying to reach out to the actor in hopes of discussing the issue involving the three of them (Garcia, Barretto, Anderson). Joshua also said that he was encouraged to try to reach out to Gerald because he wanted the tension between them to be relieved. He feels like since he and Gerald haven’t talked things out, he will have a hard time moving freely.
“Hanggang ‘dun lang ‘yung kaya kong i-text, para ma-clear lang ‘yung air sa lahat ng nangyari,” he said.
“Ayaw ko rin kase ‘yung, parang nahihirapan akong gumalaw, parang ganun ‘yung feeling. ‘Yun ‘yung isa sa na-realize ko nung quarantine, nung lockdown. Ang hirap nung may ka-awkward-an ka. Nagka-issue kayo, ganyan,” he added.
The young actor said that he will have a hard time moving freely because he feels like the prying eyes of the people won’t be off of him unless he clears things out with Gerald. People have been speculating that Joshua and Gerald are in conflict each other but Joshua has confirmed that he has nothing against the actor.
He said that he even considers Gerald as his older brother since they have the same handler.
“I’m being honest lang ha, kasi ako wala naman akong kaso sa kanya. Ako, sobrang cool na ako sa kanya. Ako, okay na ako sa kanya,” Joshua said.
“Kuya ko kasi siya, same handler kami,” he added.
Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto (JoshLia) used to be in a relationship until they broke up in mid-2019. There were rumors that actor Gerald Anderson was the reason behind the breakup when he starred in the movie Between Maybes with Julia in May 2019.
However, Joshua and Julia have already clarified that there was no third party involved and Gerald was not the reason for the split.
Julia clearly stated, “No, absolutely not.“
For Joshua, “Hindi naman totoo ‘yun. Hindi naman magagawa ni Gerald ‘yun. Parang kuya ko na si Gerald.”
The former couple was asked about the reason for their breakup but the two chose to keep it to themselves. They assured their fans that they are fine and had patched up everything in their relationship.
JoshLia’s last movie together as lovers onscreen and off was Block Z which is a zombie film.
Gerald also addressed the third party rumors that involved him saying that he is already used to such things. He said that he doesn’t have time to worry about such rumors as he only wants to focus on moving forward with life.
“Ganon talaga eh, sanay na ako,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN Entertainment.
“Sa dami ng ginagawa ko sa buhay, may oras pa ba ako sa mga issue? Just stay positive, keep moving forward. Go lang ng go,” he added.
