April 2021 – Singapore – Breakthrough indie pop auteur Will Joseph Cook shares a new acoustic EP of his favourite songs from his 2020 album ‘Something To Feel Good About’, out now via Bad Hotel. The ‘naked’, stripped back versions of Will’s lush feel-good pop tracks showcase his musicianship and versatility as he puts a new spin on his hit singles “Something To Feel Good About”, “Be Around Me” and “DOWNDOWNDOWN!”.
On why he decided to release this EP, Will shares, “Playing acoustic guitar has always been at my songwriting core. It’s how I first started out in music and where most of my ideas begin. It felt cool to make these versions as I can share more of the song’s origins. Recording these tracks reminded me of my early demos too, making beats on the back of my guitar and the forgotten bits of percussion in my school’s music room. A very wholegrain experience.”
Will Joseph Cook’s acclaimed second album ‘Something To Feel Good About’ is a record about searching for answers as you emerge from your teenage years into the adult world, soundtracked by Will’s trademarked idiosyncratic pop melodies and underscored with real heart. Released independently via Will’s own label Bad Hotel, ‘Something To Feel Good About’ has seen incredible success, especially with “Be Around Me”, his biggest song to date which has reached all corners of the globe, propelled by fans’ (new and old alike) unadulterated love for his infectious melodies and honest songwriting.
Earlier in the year, Will teamed up with rising bedroom pop star Chloe Moriondo to share a new version of “Be Around Me”. The track, which has already been streamed more than 20 million times in its original version and continues to outperform all its guitar-pop rivals at streaming services, went viral on TikTok and has since been used in over a million videos on the app to date, and as well as entering Spotify’s Viral 50 Charts in Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Will Joseph Cook is one of the UK’s brightest young talents. Still just 23 years old, Will has been developing his uniquely multi-dimensional songwriting since he was just 14. After signing his first record deal aged 17, his debut album ‘Sweet Dreamer’ arrived to great acclaim in 2017 and a follow-up EP ‘If You Want To Make Money’ arrived barely six months later. Following a hectic few years, he took some time off and went travelling, before settling back down to write the batch of songs that form his second album.
