Queer of Soul Makki Lucino expressed her interest in acting and said she wants to become Coco Martin’s leading lady.
In her media conference for cover single, She Used To Be Mine, Lucino expressed her interest in acting.
“Siguro kung magkakaroon man ng project na ganon, siguro go ilalaban natin ‘yan. Kahit ‘yung mga sidekick-sidekick, go ‘yan. Gusto ko rin ma-explore talaga kung ano ba talaga kaya ko as an artist.”
Lucino then listed the leading men she wants to work with, such as James Reid and Coco Martin.
“Siguro ako mga James Reid ganon. Siguro leading lady ni Mr. Coco Martin, mga ganon. Kung may Probinsyano, ako Probinsyana from Sorsogon ganon.”
As for her singing career, Lucino said, “I want to be a soul singer. ‘Yung bang LGBTQIA++ member na soul singer. Parang, it’s a dream.”
Lucino also advocates for the LGTBQIA+ community, especially in the performing arts.
“I pray, and I hope na magkaroon talaga. Kasi marami din po talagang aspiring singers na katulad ko na nagho-hoping na magkaroon ng space talaga. ‘Yung ma-accept po talaga, ‘yung fully, ma-accept na talaga sa community.”
Lucino also reacted to her title as the Queer of Soul.
“I’m so happy kasi ‘yung queer it’s me. ‘Yung Queer of Soul, monicker talaga s’ya. Naisip ng aking management and Star Music. The word queer, ako ‘yun eh. I’m a queer, and ‘yung soul po is my style of singing. Soul Pop, ‘yun po yung style ko.”
Lucino was one of the finalists of Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 4, and she released her rendition of ‘She Used To Be Mine’ under Star Music this June 25. Lucino’s rendition is available on various digital streaming services.
