ABS-CBN’s flagship noontime show marks a historic milestone, as it celebrates its 12th year on the air with a new host, new and returning segments.
It’s Showtime just added a new personality to its growing roster of hosts as part of the incoming celebration of its 12th year on air. Starting in 2009, the Kapamilya program is officially the longest-running ABS-CBN produced noontime show.
Vice Ganda, who just returned to the show after his month-long tour in the United States, led the show’s welcome to the OPM icon, Ogie Alcadid, who is now an official host of the show. His joining the show comes before the anticipated return of Anne Curtis, who is reportedly resuming her hosting duties in February next year.

As the show enters its 13th year, the show’s hosts will have to battle it out first, at the annual Magpasikat, which caps off the show’s 12th-anniversary celebration. Groupings have just been revealed, which also revealed Alcasid’s groupmates in his first Magpasikat. The singer-songwriter will have Vhong Navarro as his teammate. Amy Perez, who is yet to return from a break, is set to join Kim Chiu and Karylle’s all-girl team. Ion Perez, Jugs Jugueta, and Teddy Corpuz make up the second all-male group, while Vice Ganda has Ryan Bang and Jackie Gonzaga as his group mates.

Part of the kickoff is the anticipated release of Vice Ganda’s newest single, Toxic Free, which was co-written and mixed by It’s Showtime’s resident DJ, M.O.D. Many netizens suspect it to be a symbolic single that alludes to the old director of the show, Bobet Vidanes, who recently made tirades against the show. Director John de Mol, on the other hand, was officially welcomed by the hosts as the show’s new director. John Prats, who previously handled the show, will now focus on his directorial duties for FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. De Mol previously directed some of ABS-CBN’s shows, including Pinoy Big Brother and the concerts of P-POP groups, BGYO and BINI.
New segments are expected to debut in the next few weeks. Tawag ng Tanghalan is also set to return for its sixth season. Its last two winners, JM Yosures and Reiven Umali, were crowned six months apart this year. The nationwide singing search’s return comes on the heels of the beauty pageant, Reina ng Tahanan, whose grand finals take place next week.
