Several netizens and social media personalities took to social media to share disappointment and disgust over Toni Gonzaga’s hosting stint at the Marcos-Duterte campaign kickoff rally.

Political analyst and social media personality Richard Heydarian made a tweet comparing Mocha and Toni Gonzaga.

According to him, if Duterte had Mocha, the BBM team now had Toni.

But Heydarian quickly clarified his tweet, saying the comparison was about their roles as hosts to the campaign events of Duterte and Marcos.

Gonzaga was chosen to host Marcos Jr and Duterte-Carpio’s proclamation rally held at the Philippine Arena Tuesday night, February 8, 2022.

Toni and her husband Paul Soriano were known Marcos Jr. supporters since 2016, being their wedding sponsor.

However, several netizens met Toni’s hosting stint with criticisms and disappointment.

Netizen @suzy899 used the famous nomination spiel in Pinoy Big Brother, saying she’s giving Toni 2 points to be a candidate for eviction.

@TristnBuenaflor meanwhile said that Toni should be reminded of the atrocities during the Marcos regime after she proudly shouted at the PH Arena “Tapos na, may nanalo na, tapos ang laban. Buhay na buhay ang pagmamahal kay Apo Lakay Ferdinand Marcos.”

“As a professing Christian, let us remind Toni about the atrocities of Marcos against the faith during Martial Law. From 1973-to 1985, a total of recorded 24 church-raids happened. Almost half a hundred laity and servants of the Cross killed.”

@ifyouseekkae also pointed out Toni’s spiel saying her, attributing the late dictator as “Apo Lakay” means Toni is in deep shit of Marcos propaganda ang lies.

“Addressing the dictator Marcos as “Apo Lakay” unironically is a sign you are deep into the Marcos propaganda and web of lies. My expectations for Toni were low but holy fuck, kinikilabutan pa din talaga ko. Ang lala, Toni.”

@gbgrcia also shared his disgust, saying how Toni can look so proud of how bad martial law was and the atrocities it cost to the lives of many Filipinos.

“Everything about this tweet is disgusting. But I think the most disturbing part is how Toni looks so proud in this photo. How can you say those things fully knowing how bad Martial Law was? How can you root for Marcos knowing he is a killer, a thief, and a fascist?”

Toni also gets the ire of the netizens after cheerfully introducing Partylist Congressman and senatorial candidate Rodante Marcoleta at the event. Marcoleta was one of the congressmen responsible for the non-renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise, which cost thousands of ABS-CBN employees.

Kapamilya writer Alex Calleja scored Gonzaga in a tweet saying while fast food crews are afraid to be caught eating in their competitors, the female host gleefully announced the name of the person responsible for the closure of her network.

“Service crew nga ng Jollibee, takot makitang kumakain sa McDo! Ito, nagpasara ng kumpanya niya, siya pa ang nag-intro! Ang bait naman ni Kuya!!!”

Former Kapamilya anchor Gretchen Ho said, “Pretty painful to see” while not mentioning any name.

Netizen @bobthefairyNot, in a tweet, also asked how Toni managed to announce the name of the person responsible for the ABS-CBN shutdown.

“Paano niya na announce ang pangalan ng isa sa mga pasimuno na nagpasara ng ABS-CBN?”

@theninaellaine reminded Toni of her previous statement regarding the ABS-CBN shutdown, which directly contradicts her action at the proclamation rally.

@michaeleleng21 also brought out Toni’s earlier statement regarding the ABS-CBN shutdown attributed to her last film, “My Amnesia Girl”
