The movies produced by the Kapamilya film production unit dominated the Black Saturday program line-up of three of the country’s leading free TV channels.

ABS-CBN-produced movies made a strong presence across multiple free TV channels during the Holy Week, but it was on Black Saturday, April 16, that the domination of Kapamilya movies on free TV was felt. Blockbuster films were produced and released by the film outfit.

After airing, It Takes A Man and A Woman, last Sunday, April 10, GMA Network had the Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil-starrer, Alone/Together, as its second offering, under the historic agreement ABS-CBN and GMA Network signed, two weeks ago. The said deal allows the Kapuso Network to air some of the well-loved Star Cinema films, including blockbusters My Ex and Whys, Everything About Her, and Ang Tanging Ina. Alone/Together was one of the highest-grossing Filipino films in 2019, grossing nearly PhP400 million at the global box office.

Black Sheep, a Star Cinema sub-unit shared the news on its social media account. “kapamilyas kapusos. Alone/Together later 7PM on GMA!!!! “ its caption on Twitter reads.

TV5’s Black Saturday line-up is [mostly]filled with Star Cinema films. Four blockbusters produced by the film production mammoth aired from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm on TV5. These films are the Angelica Panganiban and Camille Prats-starrer, Ang Pulubi at Ang Prinsesa (1997), the Aga Mulach and Kristine Hermosa-headlined All My Life (2004), the cult John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo film, One More Chance (2007), and the emotional and multi-awarded film, Everything About Her (2016), which starred Vilma Santos, Angel Locsin, and Xian Lim.

LizQuen’s top-grossing film, My Ex and Whys, was part of the late-afternoon programming on A2Z Channel 11 and ABS-CBN’s pay-TV channel, Kapamilya Channel. The film grossed more than PhP400 million throughout its entire theatrical run in 2017. The box-office director Cathy Garcia-Molina helmed the film.
