The Bolera episode on Monday, June 6, had netizens applauding 2016 Cannes Best Actress Jaclyn Jose acting.
The particular scene was when Jose Maria “Joma” Fajardo (Al Tantay) lost his life after being stabbed by Cobrador (Gardo Versoza) during a scuffle. Tessa (Jose’s character), when she saw her husband’s lifeless body, flailed her arms and cried endlessly.
Netizens found it relatable and thought it was accurate.
One even tweeted, “Ganitong-ganito mga immediate relatives ng [Dead on Arrival] DOA patients namin.”
Huy. Ganitong ganito mga immediate relatives ng DOA patients namin. https://t.co/gDuoTRjhec

Another said that in real life, Jose’s portrayal of a grieving wife was spot on.

However, not everyone was impressed.
A netizen recalled how Jose was dubbed to be “babaeng walang emosyon” and was surprised that she acted that way in Bolera.
i remember an episode in Antonietta (yes, that bubble gang skit) where betong referred jaclyn jose as "babaeng walang emosyon," so seeing her acting here is something new to me https://t.co/Q20kZXCnvn

One even ridiculed her acting, calling it “TV Patrol” style.

But some cannot deny that Jose portrayed it correctly.
The fault was in the cinematography as it missed to highlight the emotions shown by the actress during the death of her husband.

We have great actors, but poor editors and cinematographers. Pakibigyan naman ng mas magandang budget mga direk!!! https://t.co/wLYXwuQuuj

this is actually a very accurate portrayal of grief ruined by poor cinematography & editing https://t.co/iBsonQD06k

One was also disappointed with GMA Network adding background music to the dramatic scene. The way the camera shot was also criticized.

One even said that Jose’s acting “is okay.” The angles, however, in the netizen’s opinion, were wrong.

Meanwhile, a netizen defended the show. She pointed out that Jose accurately showed the emotions and expressions of a now-widowed wife.
