The Kids edition of the top-rated karaoke singing competition is overloaded with charming talent and cuteness, that makes it a sweet weekend primetime treat.

Do singing reality shows need to always have a “kiddie” version, every time they become a hit with the audience? They do.
Over the years, we’ve seen the junior editions of the likes of Tawag Ng Tanghalan, The Voice, and even the cooking show, Master Chef, make it on local television. And now we have Sing Galing Kids, which came on the heels of the success of the top rating videoke-reality game show, Sing Galing.
Sing Galing Kids follows the same gameplay as the regular version, but with a few tweaks to ensure eliminated kiddie contestants are not hurt— emotionally, I should say. Genie is still present but not to gong them if they get out of tune or forget the lyrics of the song. In this edition, they are simply scored for their performance and not for their mastery of the lyrics. They are also given a set of songs they all know, to choose from.
New to the Kiddie judging panel are Jukebosses, Gloc-9 and Morisette. Jona and OPM icon, Rey Valera, reprises their roles from the regular edition of the show which still airs on weeknights.
You can’t expect the kids to sing masterfully, although the first four contestants who made it to the pilot episode do carry a tune. Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids arguably had more skillful auditionees when it debuted in 2017, but to Sing Galing Kids’ credit, it looks as if it is after delivering the charm, and chuckles. The first episode is overloaded with the children’s charming talent and cuteness. The judges are also game to play with each auditionee’s little gimmicks, and they always have good things to say about the performance of the kids. Morisette and Jona are particularly softer when they give comments, while the two male judges seemingly took the role of giving the more technical judgments.
Also, a unique part of the show is the parents accompanying their kids to cheer them in their performances or help them cope with getting eliminated. It can also be both, as most parents in the pilot episode did.
