Some stars appearing on the new Kapamilya show also appeared on the recently-concluded action-fantasy-drama series.
They say you are not an actor if you haven’t played a role in the longest-running drama on Philippine TV, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. That is why it is not surprising that some actors who appeared in the Coco Martin series are also set to appear in the superhero series.
Jane de Leon (Darna/Lia Mante). Darna, herself, played a major role in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. De Leon portrayed P/Capt. Lia Mante, one of the police officers tasked to pursue Cardo Dalisay and eventually joined Task Force Agila.
The role was reportedly offered to prepare her action scenes in the Darna series.
Janella Salvador (Valentina/Denise). Even Janella Salvador, who plays Darna’s main antagonist, Valentina, also became part of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
She was among the main actors who got featured in the ‘party drug’ arc of the action drama series. She portrayed the role of Denise Paulino, the younger sister of the role played by Jake Cuenca.
Simon Ibarra (Zaldy/Enrique). Ibarra’s character in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Enrique Vera, is best known for its brutal death scene. The actor is set to play the role of Zaldy Vallesteros, the mayor of the fictional town of Nueva Esperanza, where the story of Darna is set.
JV Kapunan (Andre/Danny). Kapunan, a.k.a. Young JV had a very small role in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. He played a student named, Danny, who was a drug dealer.
In Darna, he plays, Andre Abesamis, a bigger role.
Marvin Yap (Gardo/Elmo). He had several shows during her entire stint as Elmo in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. He also appeared on the series, Walang Hanggang Paalam.
He had a final appearance on the 7-year-old Kapamilya series, during its finale episode. On August 12. In Darna, he plays the role of Gardo Laracruz.
Zeppi Borromeo (Oleg/Derrick). Borromeo notably played the role of Derrick, a spoiled-brat party boy whom Cardo Dalisay had an intense brawl with, during the show’s fifth season.
He was soon revealed as one of the allies of Richard Gutuierrez’s character, Lito Valmoria. In Darna, he plays Oleg Mendoza.
Gerard Acao (Pancho/Timo). Acao played Timo, one of Dante Madarang’s (Baron Geisler) most trusted henchmen. He is playing the role of Pancho Paras in the new superhero series.
Marc Manicad (Ali/Capt.Salonga). Manicad was among Cardo Dalisay’s allies in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. As Capt. Edwin Salonga, he served as one of Task Force Agila’s moles at the Palace. He now portrays the role of Ali Policarpio in Darna.
Iza Calzado (Leonor/Olivia). Calzado had a brief role in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as Col. Olivia Buenaventura, who was among those who prepared Cardo as he took over the identity of his twin brother, Ador.
In Darna, she is the prime warrior, Leonor, who is also the first protector of the magical stone, which makes its bearer turn into Darna.
