On August 2, seasoned actor Nonie Buencamino discussed the value of Art in telling the truth.
At the media conference for Maalaala Mo Kaya’s August episodes, Buencamino stressed that Art should come from the truth.
He then shared the advice he usually gives to the young generation of actors.
It’s really getting outside of yourself as a performer and trying to portray to the best of your capacity. What is true and real for the character you portray na ginagawa mo.”
He also stated his opinion of young actors today regarding truthfully portraying a character.
“So kung kailangan mong maging panget, eh, kailangan mo maging panget. Kung kailangan hindi ka malinis or hindi ka naka-make up, huwag kang mag-make up. Kasi ngayon, nangingibabaw kasi ‘yung persona noong tao sa social media, nangingibabaw doon sa character. So what happens is that somehow it gets in the way of the craft.
“Pero palagay ko– it’s an age old advice of people who are very much deeply into the craft of acting.”
As for his Maalaala Mo Kaya episode, Nonie Buencamino stars alongside Paolo Gumabao in a story of the unconditional love of father and son.
Their episode premieres on MMK on August 20 via Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, TFC and A2Z.
