ABS-CBN executive Julie Anne R. Benitez defends Jane de Leon and Janella Salvador from critics who said their talents got wasted on Darna‘s current storyline.
In a tweet on Tuesday, January 3, Benitez asked a netizen how he could say De Leon and Salvador were put to waste when, in fact, they are two of the most popular stars of today.

Benitez reacted to a netizen who tweeted, “Dapat lang noh. Sayang ang Jane De Leon at Janella Salvador nagiging kengkoy sa dog show dahil sa kagagahan nila”
The netizen’s tweet erupted from one of Darna’s episodes where Salvador, playing Valentina was seen together with a cringy CGI.
Benitez also addressed one netizen’s question regarding the classic villains of Darna.
The netizen asked Benitez if they were planning to use other original villains created by Ravelo. However, Benitez said that Valentina is the only one the production will utilize for the series.

Meanwhile, after six months on the air, Mars Ravelo’s Darna is said to be concluding this January 2023.
According to rumors, Darna is already on its last two weeks and will be replaced by Coco Martin‘s comeback teleserye, FPJ’s Batang Quaipo, scheduled for the last week of January.
