At the media conference for the Season 2 of Maria Clara at Ibarra on January 16, Dennis Trillo and Julie Anne San Jose revealed how they created chemistry between their characters in the period-fantasy series.
San Jose admitted that she has always been a fan of Trillo.
“Unang-una sa lahat I’ve always been a fan of Sir Dennis. Even ‘yung mga past projects niya, even the movies and teleseryes, at first never kong na-imagine ‘yung sarili ko na makakatrabaho ko si sir Dennis, si Dennis na makakatrabaho ko siya.”
She then detailed how the chemistry between them as Maria Clara and Ibarra naturally came to them while taping on set.
“Hanggang sa tumatagal, hanggang sa madami na kaming nakukuhang eksena– I guess– I don’t know eh, kasi ‘yung pagkasi may mga eksena kasi kami ni Dennis, like usually, kunwari na sa set lang kami, nagthro-throw lines lang kami, kumbaga parang the chemistry just follows, and ‘yun din siguro ‘yung nakikita ng tao.”
As for Trillo, he appreciated the unexpected success of their Kapuso series and their pairing.
“Maganda rin siguro na nagugulat ka sa mga ganong bagay at hindi ka masyado nag-eexpect, para kapag dumarating na ‘yung mga recognitions, papuri, mas masarap sa pakiramdam dahil hindi mo siya inasahan pero pinagtrabahuhan mo siya ng husto. Kaya masarap ‘yung feeling na ngayon ay nakikilala na siya at napapansin at napapanood ng maraming tao.”

Trillo and San Jose star in Kapuso primetime teleserye, Maria Clara at Ibarra with Barbie Forteza and David Licauco.
The period-fantasy series also added cast members for the El Filibusterismo Saga with Khalil Ramos, Kim De Leon, Julia Pascual, Arnold Reyes, and Pauline Mendoza.
