On January 16, Kapuso actor Khalil Ramos asserted his excitement in portraying the role of an older Basilio in Maria Clara at Ibarra‘s El Filibusterismo Saga.

At the media conference for the Season 2 of Maria Clara at Ibarra, Ramos acknowledged the success of the Kapuso period-fantasy series.

“Especially noong first day ko, naramdaman ko talaga ‘yung kaba, siyempre with the success of the Noli ng Maria Clara at Ibarra, siyempre gusto rin natin na magampanan ‘yung role– gusto kong magampanan ‘yung role ni Basilio ng tama.

“‘Yun ako, I’m super excited lang din talaga na ma-fill in ko ‘yung shoes ng isang character na ilang beses na rin nating napanood, at siyempre isa siyang character na isinulat ni Jose Rizal, so I’m very, very excited to be a part of this wonderful show.”

He then discussed his preparations for the role.

“Ako po, noong sinabihan po ako ng role ko bilang Basilio ay agad-agad ko po akong bumalik sa pagbabasa noong kwento ng El Fili, medyo matagal na rin po kasi noong huling basa ko noong High School and I familiarized myself again with the characters, noong representasyon ng mga characters na ‘yun.”

He then cited the warm welcome he received from the cast of Maria Clara at Ibarra.

“And of course, I was given the script ahead of time so talagang inaral ko po ‘yung script and nakaka-one day pa lang po ako sa pagsho-shoot, and so far sobrang natuwa po ako dahil winelcome po talaga ako ng cast and crew ng show na ‘to. They we’re really comfortable and sobrang collaborative din po nila. And I’m very excited kung anong pwede naming maibigay na kwento dito sa El Fili.”

Maria Clara at Ibarra stars Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, Dennis Trillo, and Julie Anne San Jose.

The period-fantasy series included new cast members for the El Filibusterismo Saga, starting with Ramos, Kim De Leon, Julia Pascual, Arnold Reyes, and Pauline Mendoza.

The Kapuso primetime teleserye also features Andrea Torres, Juancho Trivino, Tirso Cruz III, Rocco Nacino, Dennis Padilla Chai Fonacier, Gilleth Sandico, Juan Rodrigo, Ces Quesada, Lou Veloso, and Kirst Viray.

Under the direction of Zig Dulay, Catch the continuation of Maria Clara at Ibarra, weeknights on GMA Telebabad after 24 Oras.
