Xian Lim is proven to be a multi-talented individual who is more than a matinee idol, host, screenwriter, or professional basketball player.
During the press conference for his next film, ‘Hello Universe’ last January 12, Lim admitted that being referred to as a “director” excites him more than being considered an “actor”.
He said, “Syempre mas nakakakilig marinig ang direktor kasi yun talaga ang gusto kong gawin ever since nagsimula ako.”
The Viva Films-produced Hello Universe, starring Janno Gibbs and Anjo Yllana will be Lim’s first major theatrical release on January 25. He became passionate about filmmaking after attending the Cinemalaya Film Festival in 2019.
The actor turned director added, “And this is a story I always tell whenever I get to direct a project: noong 2009, when I acted in my very first Cinemalaya film na ‘Two Funerals,’ gustong gusto ko na talagang maging parte behind the camera. Mas kinikilig ako (kapag tinawag na direktor), sobrang gandang pakinggan.”
Lim also wrote the script for the movie which exposes his talent for comedy that is unknown to some of his admirers. He also said that he was a frustrated basketball player.
On the other hand, he stated that he would never stop being an actor because the profession is in his blood.
The actor-director stated that he would never stop acting since it is his passion. He continued on to say that having the chance to tell a tale, write, and be a part of every stage of the filmmaking process is another form of fulfillment for him.
Having another way to tell a narrative provides him with additional satisfaction. He mentioned that he was looking forward to writing more stories. The Kapuso actor also revealed that he had already developed multiple plots for upcoming movies.
