Internationally-acclaimed artist Lea Salonga took to social media to express her sentiment about disrespectful netizens.
In her Facebook post on March 31, the singer-actress and Broadway star claimed that one can tell a lot about a person’s character based on his posts on social media.
“The comments section of certain posts can be very telling. They can (and do) reveal the commenters’ character, or lack thereof. The disrespect, entitlement, rudeness, ignorance and idiocy contained therein makes one wonder about their real life circumstances to make them turn out that way,” she said.
Salonga then talked about disrespectful netizens.
“Marami talagang bastos sa social media. Salamat na lang at hindi lahat ng tao ganoon. Protektahan ang inyong puso, isip at sikmura.
“Yun lang po,” she said.
She did not give any context to her post but netizens assumed that there were people who said harsh things about her.
Lea Salonga is best known for her roles in musical theatre like Miss Saigon and Les Misérables.
In 1991, she won the Tony Award, the first Asian actress to do so, for her performance in Miss Saigon. She also won the Laurence Olivier Awards in 1990 for the same role.
In 2005, Salonga was awarded the Golden Artist Award at the FAMAS Awards. She was even awarded with the rank of Commander of the Order of Lakandula by President Gloria Arroyo in 2007 in recognition of her talents.
These were just some of the many awards and honors she received for her talent which made her an internationally-recognized figure in music and entertainment.
