On May 4, Kapamilya multi-award-winning actress Charo Santos-Concio attested to how FPJ’s ‘Batang Quiapo’ remained respectful of the community and location of their set in Quiapo, Manila.
At the media conference for FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’s new chapter, which LionhearTV covered, Santos-Concio recounted the warm welcome they received from the people in Quiapo, Manila, while they taped for the series.
She shared, “Isang beses lang ako ng-shooting sa Quiapo, at ang observation ko naman, may pag-galang naman ang buong produksyon sa mga tao doon at sa lugar.”
The veteran actress shared that she the people in Quiapo were all so welcoming. To her, the shoot proceeded smoothly and the people were pleasant and warm. She reiterated, “Mababait sila sa amin at ang maipagmamalaki ko, maayos ang produksyon at ginalang ng produksyon ang lugar.”
Earlier, motivational speaker Rendon Labador called out FPJ’s Batang Quiapo production for allegedly disturbing vendors in Quiapo, Manila. This was while filming for the series. Labador’s statement was criticized on social media by several personalities.
As for her character, Santos-Concio highlighted her principles and compassion. She said, “She’s a very courageous woman. She’s very anchored in her principles, but she doesn’t judge anyone. More so, sobra ang pagmamahal niya sa kaniyang apo, that even if she’s torn or if she struggles /upon/ her principles and her love for–, it’s always her love for her apo ang nanaig.” The actress furthered, “Nalalagay niya sa konteksto ang pinagdadaanan ng apo niya. Ang galaw ng buhay, kaya ano siya, maprinsipyo, matapang, may lakas ng loob, but she has a good heart and she loves her apo deeply, unconditional love talaga”
She also discussed how she connects with her role in her personal life. “There’s a Tindeng in me. I want to believe that I’m a strong woman, I’m independent, and I have my own set of values I believe in, but I look at the world from a set of eyes, with compassion and kindness. And a loving lola, a doting lola, oo to four grandchildren. There’s nothing being like a lola, pero ibang klaseng apo itong si Tanggol, pasaway,” Santos-Concio concluded.
FPJ’s ‘Batang Quiapo’ stars Coco Martin (actor-director-writer) with Supreme Actress Lovi Poe.
The Kapamilya action-drama features a stellar cast with Irma Adlawan, Cherrie Pie Picache, John Estrada, Christopher de Leon, Santos-Concio, Tommy Abuel, Mark Lapid, Lorna Tolentino, Joey Marquez, and many more.
