On September 20, Diamond Star Maricel Soriano recalled getting called out by director Ishmael Bernal in the 1982 film, ‘Galawgaw.’
At the media event for ‘Pira-Pirasong Paraiso,’ which LionhearTV covered, Soriano recounted how the director scolded her for being late because of her fever.
“Si Ishmael Bernal, oo kasi gusto niya perfect. Hindi pwede sa kaniya ‘yung good lang. Kailangan perfect. Kailangan pagdating mo, ‘Cut, perfect, very good thank you!’
“Galawgaw, ano eh, may lagnat ako eh. 40 ‘yung lagnat ko pero pumunta ako sa set na-late ako ng 10 minutes. Nagalit, nagalit, sabi niya sa akin, ‘Hindi pwede tayong nale-late.'”
She narrated how Bernal made her realize the value of everyone’s time.
“Inexplain niya, pero naintindihan ko, at maganda ‘yung explanation niya, ‘yung mga tao na ‘yan, uuwi pa ‘yan, kayo sasakay na lang kayo sa kotse, ‘yung mga crew, ‘yan ang dami pa nila gagawin.’ Pero totoo naman talaga kaya hindi ka pwedeng ma-late.
“Buti nga hindi ako na-bato ng magic flying chair. Oo pero hindi ako nabato, ‘yung iba nabato, ako hindi ako nabato.”
Aside from Bernal, she also remembered the advice she got from the Comedy King, Dolphy.
“Si Daddy Dolphy, siyempre siya ‘yung laging maraming payo. Lagi niyang sinasabi na magpakumbaba ka, huwag masyadong matayog ang lipad ng saranggola ni Pepe. Di ba ‘yung mga ganon.
“At tsaka kung minsan kailangan ko daw maintindihan na hindi tatayo ‘yung tao kasi nahihiya, sabi niya, ‘Ikaw na ang magparaya anak.’ Sabi niya, ‘Dahil ang hirap ng mga pinapagawa mo, bruha.’ Sabi sa akin. Bruha daw ako.”
The Diamond Star Maricel Soriano joins ‘Pira-Pirasong Paraiso’ for the series’ new season.
The teleserye features Elisse Joson, Loisa Andalio, Alexa Ilacad, and Charlie Dizon.
The cast includes Joseph Marco, Ronnie Alonte, KD Estrada, Markus Paterson, Sunshine Dizon, Art Acuña, Epy Quizon, and Snooky Serna.
Catch the new season of ‘Pira-Pirasong Paraiso,’ under the direction of Raymund B Ocampo, airs from Monday through Friday at 3 PM and on Saturdays at 2:30 PM, via Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, and TFC.
