Unlike any other Vivamax star, Angela Morena took a few months’ break from doing sexy films but had no doubts about it.
Morena recently starred in ‘Kabit,’ released on February 23. She now appears in the upcoming film by Direk Bobby Bonifacio Jr. titled ‘Lady Guard,’ almost three months later.
Compared to other Vivamax talents, she had to wait a few months for her next project. However, on May 2 at Vivamax Cafe, the actress expressed her trust in Vivamax to choose the right projects for her and showed gratitude for each opportunity given.
“Sobrang tiwala po ako sa Viva pagdating sa career ko. Kaya anything na project na binibigay nila sa akin, tinatanggap ko po. So, hindi po ako nagiging mapili o hindi po ako mapili sa mga projects,” she said.
The wait was definitely worth it, as she finally had the chance to work with Direk Bobby after her sisters Micaella and Stephanie Raz.
“Ayun, I was very excited to know na makaka-work ko si Direk Bobby. Kasi parang finally, magkaka-work na kami after so many times na nagkita tayo. And naka-work na rin po niya ang mga sisters ko. Ayun, excited ako na magwo-work kami,” she expressed.
Morena also thanked the director for being a collaborative filmmaker and appreciated his willingness to accept their suggestions.
“Direk, salamat. Hindi namin magagawa ito kung hindi dahil sa iyo at sa mga staff and crew. Totoo iyon na very collaborative si Direk Bobby. May mga ideas kami na shine-share at hindi kami takot na sabihin sa kanya ‘yun kahit na taliwas.”
Guiding the Newbies
In ‘Lady Guard,’ Morena worked with newcomer talents Anthony Davao and Irish Tan. As the more experienced actress on set, she was happy to share her knowledge and experience, especially with Tan.
“For me naman po, dumaan din po ako sa pagiging bago. Alam ko po ang feeling na hungry pagdating sa learning a lot of things, especially dito sa craft po na ginagawa po namin. Si Irish, napaka-bait, very good listener, at ano siya, willing pong matuto. Shine-share ko naman sa kanya ang mga experiences ko. Ganoon din si Anthony,” said the actress.
A Different Angela Morena in ‘Lady Guard’
In this film, Angela Morena plays a character very different from her own personality. She portrays Estelle, a corrupt warehouse security guard.
It was a challenging role for Morena, who described herself as demure. She needed to show authority since her character wields power.
“Kaya nagkaroon din ako ng research and discussion sa film, sa story, sa characters with Direk Bobby and sa mga writers po natin sa Viva,” explained the actress.
See it for yourself, as ‘Lady Guard’ premieres on Vivamax on May 3.
