Kapamilya actress Maris Racal has broken her silence regarding the controversy surrounding her involvement with Anthony Jennings and his former girlfriend, Jam Villanueva.
Speaking on December 6, Maris revealed her attempt to reach out to Jam last month but received no response.
“I reached out to Jam last November. I did not get a reply. I think that was last November,” Maris admitted, explaining that she wanted to clarify the situation directly. “Because I wanted to know what’s up. So, I’m sorry,” she added.
Maris confessed that she was unaware Anthony was still in a relationship with Jam while they were growing closer.
“I didn’t know. I was in the dark. I didn’t know. I had no idea. God knows ilang beses ako nang tanong. Ilang beses ako nang hinihingi ng statement,” she said.
She further explained that both she and Jam had been misled by conflicting statements from Anthony. “We both believed kung anong mga nasabi sa’kin. Maybe iba yung sinabi sa kanya. And I can attest that iba yung sinasabi sa’kin. That’s my side of the story,” she added.
The actress expressed regret over the fallout of the controversy, particularly for the impact on her supporters.
“So, to the public, I’m sorry that you got to see that very intimate side of me. Ganun talaga ako pag nagbigay ng pagmamahal. It was supposed to be private,” Maris stated.
She also extended her apology to those who have supported her career over the past decade. “Most especially, I’m very sorry. I’m truly sorry to those people who supported me for ten years. Alam nila lahat na ginapang ko yung career ko mapunta lang sa kung saan ko gusto,” she shared.
Maris acknowledged the toll the controversy has taken on her career and personal dignity.
“‘Yung dignidad ko, hindi ko nawala. Whenever I go out, whenever I walk, I feel like I’m a naked woman walking,” she admitted.
Despite the challenges, Maris promised to continue working hard and rebuilding herself. “But, I can assure you, tuloy pa rin ako. Tuloy pa rin ang laban. Magta-trabaho pa rin ako kahit nahirap. Hindi pa rin namamatay yung apoy sa puso ko. I’m still looking for that little girl inside of me,” she concluded.
