Trevor Magallanes, the husband of actress-comedian Rufa Mae Quinto, has confirmed that they are in the midst of divorce proceedings. The Filipino-American financial analyst addressed the issue in an Instagram story, clarifying their marital status amidst growing public speculation.
“Hey guys, I felt like I need to explain myself based on social media and all that. I want to make myself clear that Rufa Mae and I are in the process of a divorce,” Magallanes wrote.
Magallanes highlighted the emotional toll the divorce is taking, particularly on their 6-year-old daughter, Athena, and acknowledged the complexities of the situation.
“You may be aware that divorce can be very devastating to the children but also to the parents. That said, my marriage has been a shit show and I am sorry for that,” he admitted.
Despite the difficulties, Magallanes stated that his focus is on completing the divorce process and prioritizing quality time with Athena. “All that matters to me at this time is getting through the divorce as best as I can and spending time with Athena. Happy holidays!”
Magallanes’ statement follows his recent posts on social media, where he shared screenshots of alleged private conversations with Quinto. The exchanges appeared to show disagreements over parenting arrangements for Athena, indicating ongoing tensions between the two.
Magallanes and Quinto were engaged in February 2016 and married in November of the same year. At the time of their wedding, Quinto was expecting Athena, who was born in February 2017.
News of their separation comes amid Quinto’s legal battles, as she faces 14 counts of alleged violations of Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code.
Quinto, best known for her comedic roles, most recently appeared on Last One Laughing PH, a Filipino adaptation of the Japanese reality show.
As of this writing, Quinto has not issued a public statement regarding the divorce or the allegations shared by Magallanes. Further updates will follow as the story develops.
