Kapuso actress Sofia Pablo has addressed the longstanding rumors of a feud between her and fellow Sparkle star Jillian Ward.
In an interview with Nelson Canlas for GMA Integrated News, where she was joined by her on-screen partner Allen Ansay, Sofia spoke openly about the issue that has fueled speculation among fans for years.
“Actually, lagi siyang natatanong sa ‘kin and I’ve always said na hindi kami magkaaway, hindi rin kami magkasundo or something,” Sofia admitted. “Pero the truth is, I say that para iwas na issue sa amin both. Kumbaga, it’s a feud na sobrang tagal na. I think one of the things kaya ‘di namin siya naayos is because we never got to talk about it.”
Sofia revealed that the rift began during the first season of their hit series ‘Prima Donnas’, which premiered in 2019. However, she chose not to disclose the cause of their falling out.
“Nagulat na lang ako biglang hindi na. Ganun ‘yung nangyari sa amin. After nun, we never talked anymore,” she said. “We’re close tapos biglang wala na. Like literal wala na, in a snap, wala pong buwelo na ilangan. Literal, stopped.”
Despite their strained relationship, Sofia clarified that she wants to avoid turning it into a bigger issue, especially since they are both thriving in their respective careers.
“People should stop making an issue about it. Like kung ‘di kami OK, I don’t see any problem with it. Kumbaga it’s normal,” she said. “You can’t force a friendship to reconcile out of nowhere.”
Sofia also shared a similar experience with another ‘Prima Donnas’ co-star, Will Ashley. She revealed that they had a misunderstanding and didn’t speak for four years.
“He would just greet me on my birthday,” Sofia recalled. “Nagte-thank you naman po ako pero bukod doon kapag nagkikita kami, invisible.”
Their reconciliation came ahead of their work on the new series ‘Prinsesa ng City Jail’.
“Before we started taping, we talked,” Sofia shared. “I think darating naman din ‘yun with Jillian. When the time is right, kapag may taong nag-start na, ‘bakit ‘di kayo mag-usap.’ Kasi ‘yun po ‘yung nangyari with Will.”
Sofia believes that healing happens when both parties are ready.
“Naging OK kami kasi we both wanted to be OK na. And now is not the right time [with Jillian] yet since kahit ako labong-labo rin ako.”
Sofia currently stars in ‘Prinsesa ng City Jail’, which premiered this week on GMA Afternoon Prime. The show airs weekdays at 3:20 p.m. after ‘Lilet Matias: Attorney-At-Law.’
