Comedian and television host Vice Ganda once again used his platform on ‘It’s Showtime’ to educate the public on governance, particularly the true responsibilities of Congress and the Senate.

On the March 4, 2025 episode, the noontime show continued its interactive quiz segment, engaging the live audience in discussions about current events and Philippine history. Among the topics covered was the three branches of government: executive, legislative, and judiciary.
The hosts allowed the audience to search for answers online, making the learning experience more interactive and engaging.
One of the questions posed to an audience member was: “Which branch of government is responsible for making laws?”
The contestant correctly answered: “Legislative.”
Vice Ganda then elaborated on the fundamental role of lawmakers, reminding the public that their primary duty is to craft laws, not distribute aid.
“Legislative. ‘Yan ‘yung branch ng Kongreso at Senado. Ang trabaho talaga nila ay gumawa ng batas,” Vice explained.
He urged voters to elect officials who are competent in lawmaking rather than those who focus on other activities.
“Kaya dapat ang iboboto natin sa Kongreso at Senado ay ‘yung gagawa ng batas, ‘yung may alam na gawing batas, at may planong gumawa ng batas,” he stressed.
Vice also addressed a common misconception—that senators and congressmen are responsible for distributing financial assistance or “ayuda.”
“Ang Kongreso at Senado, ang ginagawa po niya talaga ay gumagawa ng batas, hindi nagbibigay ng ayuda,” he pointed out.
“Yun talaga ang pangunahin nila. Yung paggawa ng batas. Hindi ‘yung mamimigay sila ng pera.”
Following the episode, Vice Ganda shared a clip of the discussion on his social media with the caption: “Ang Kongreso at Senado ay gumagawa talaga ng batas, hindi namimigay ng ayuda.”
Vice Ganda has long been vocal about social issues, using his platform to engage the public in meaningful discussions. As one of Quezon City’s top taxpayers, he has repeatedly encouraged Filipinos to be critical and informed voters—a message that continues to resonate as the country approaches the next election season.
