Valerie “Bangs” Garcia, once a familiar face on Philippine television stepped away from the limelight in 2016, choosing family over her acting career.
In a heartfelt revelation shared via podcast interview, Garcia expressed her desire to focus on her husband and children, marking a new chapter in her life. “I can move here, mean, I want to be with my husband and I want to start a family here,” she said, emphasizing her decision to relocate and embrace a more independent approach to raising her kids.
“It’s all about my family now,” she added, underscoring her shift in priorities.
Garcia’s journey in the entertainment industry began in 2004 when she joined ABS-CBN’s reality show Close Up to Fame. Though she didn’t win, her charm and talent caught the attention of producers, paving the way for her acting career. She soon landed roles in popular teleseryes like Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal and Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo, where her distinct “bangs” hairstyle became her signature. Garcia also starred in films such as Cinco and The Reunion, solidifying her status as a rising star in the late 2000s and early 2010s.
However, after tying the knot with her non-showbiz husband in 2016 and welcoming their daughters, Garcia gradually withdrew from the public eye. Now living abroad, she has embraced a private life, far from the glitz of showbiz. She values the independence of raising her children without relying on nannies, a stark contrast to the norm she observed growing up in the Philippines.
“I can’t even imagine myself having my kids looked after by someone else,” she shared. Garcia also appreciates how her in-laws raised her husband, noting their grounded approach as an influence on her parenting style.
