Having celebrated its 25th year, global cyber security firm NCC Group is eyeing to scale up its talent development efforts in the Philippines through specialized cyber security skills training, mentorship, and access to certifications for its employees.
NCC Group, which formally began its Manila operations early last year, has now expanded its local capabilities through training and continuous learning opportunities and plans to offer its services to local firms.
“The Manila office has been an integral part of our global capacity for clients and has opened doors to develop local technology talent. We are now growing into a hub for specialized cyber expertise and continuing to expand our cyber security scope to support our clients,” said NCC Group SVP and Philippines Country Leader Mirei Magallona.
Making the Philippines cyber-secure
The company’s push for local talent development comes at a time when local firms plan to invest in their tech capabilities.
The most recent Asia Pacific Tech Market Forecast from research firm Forrester showed that tech spending in the Philippines is expected to increase by 9.4% in 2025, with artificial intelligence (AI) and cyber security among the key drivers of investments.
The 2025 Cisco Cyber security Readiness Index, meanwhile, also indicated that nine in 10 Filipino companies are partly using AI technologies such as GenAI in threat intelligence. While roughly half of them have expressed willingness to fully automate their systems, the other half cite trust and effectiveness of the technology among their concerns.
Given this, British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils regards cyber security as a fundamental pillar of national security, economic strategy, and public trust.
“In both the UK and the Philippines, we’ve seen how digitalization unlocks incredible potential for growth, inclusion, and innovation. But it also brings risks, and this means that resilience and cyber security must now be built into the very fabric of our digital economies,” Beaufils said in a statement.
Having a risk-based approach in cyber security is also crucial for Filipino firms in crafting policies and strengthening current systems, according to Magallona. “It’s key to understand what truly matters to the business – take a risk-based approach and identify their most critical assets and their vulnerability, then create clear, practical, and usable policies around them. Threats evolve, so cyber policies need to be dynamic for them to be sustainable,” she explained.
A secure digital future
In celebrating its 25th anniversary, NCC Group reiterated the value of its people in realizing its goal of creating a safe and protected digital future.
“Over the past 25 years, countless colleagues have chosen NCC Group as the place to make a difference. It is through their collective expertise that enabled NCC Group to stand at the forefront of cyber resilience, continuously innovating and striving for excellence to create a more secure digital future,” said NCC Group CEO Mike Maddison.
For her part, Magallona expressed the firm’s continued commitment to the local talent. “Our goals are to continue to attract and develop experts, keep our talent engaged, challenged, and aligned with the future of the industry, while building a strong culture of leadership to support our growing community,” she said.
True to its commitment to continuous innovation, NCC Group recently launched a new suite of Digital Identity Services that can help organizations manage and protect their digital assets. It is the latest addition to NCC Group’s suite of solutions powered by its professionals all over the world, including the Filipino workforce.
