Kicking off December in style, Star Magic rolled out another Spotlight Presscon—this time putting the spotlight on showbiz’s freshest faces: Robbie Jaworski and Angelina Cruz.
Though still new to the acting scene, these rising stars are already part of the lead cast in one of today’s most talked-about shows, The Alibi.
Robbie reflected on their journey in showbiz so far, and how reality compared to their initial expectations. “A lot of realizations tungkol sa proseso ng trabaho. Initially, I thought acting and hosting was about being quick—mabilis mag-isip, but it’s a lot more than that. It takes a lot of preparation—in mind, in body; it’s a whole package.”
Angelina shared that The Alibi is her first ever serye to film. “I expected it to be the same as filming a movie because I filmed a movie na with DonBelle before, and I found it very chill. But filming a serye, The Alibi, is very different—it can be very fast-paced,” she said.
Starring alongside two of today’s biggest actors and loveteams, Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, the two also play love interests in the show—portraying the younger siblings of the established stars.
Robbie Jaworski plays Edward Cabrera, Paolo Avelino’s sibling, coming from a wealthy and influential family.
Robbie shared a bit about playing his character, finding parallels with his own life: “I used a lot of inspiration actually from my personal life… Isang upbringing or pinanggalingan ni Edward is he’s the nepo baby na may trabaho sa pamilya niya. His family has a hotel, and he became the manager of it. It really helped, yung balance of being humbled enough to know na wala ka masyadong alam sa buhay mo.”
Angelina Cruz plays Katherine Morales, the younger sister of Kim Chiu’s character, coming from a more humble background—a stark contrast to the world of the Cabreras.
“I really had to dig deep into Katherine’s character and find elements where I could resonate with. Yung pagiging overprotective niya sa family niya, having a sister that she loves so much—I have two sisters,” Angelina shared.
Robbie is also a regular VJ on MYX and takes on various hosting gigs when he’s away from acting. Meanwhile, Angelina has a strong passion for music, a talent she continues to hone and develop.
The Alibi is sure to open new opportunities for both young actors. For Angelina, acting is clearly a path she’s eager to explore. “As of now, my focus is really acting and working on that…I want to try acting,” she shared decisively.
“You can truly succeed in it if you enjoy it,” Robbie said about the industry, encapsulating everything he has learned so far and the mindset he plans to carry into the journey ahead—also a thoughtful reflection on longevity in showbiz.
