SB19 leader Pablo Nase shared his thoughts on the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the music industry, emphasizing the need to protect artists’ rights amid rapid technological advancements.

Speaking during a press conference for the group’s new album ‘Wakas at Simula’, Pablo acknowledged the importance of innovation but warned against its misuse.
“I think AI is a very powerful tool. Ako personally, strong believer po ako ng innovation. I think it’s really important. But siguro po, not at the expense na ninanakaw na ‘yung identity ng mga artists [at] yung creative rights,” he said.
He stressed that AI becomes dangerous when it is used without the consent of creators.
“Nagiging dangerous po kasi siya kapag walang consent ng mga artist at ginagamit ‘yung mga gawa nila,” he added.
Pablo further pointed out the ethical and legal implications of using artists’ work without permission.
“So, for these softwares or companies to use [their songs] without their consent, I think it’s very unethical. I think it should be illegal,” he said.
He also called on developers and companies to implement stricter rules in the use of AI technologies.
“Sana ‘yung mga gumagawa pa ng ganitong mga innovation dapat mas panatilihin pa nila ‘yung rules or maging strict sila pagdating sa paggamit,” he said.
The SB19 leader underscored that artists should have full control over how their identity and creative output are used.
“Dapat ‘yung mga artist has the sole control if gusto nilang ipagamit yung identity nila or ‘yung creative outputs nila sa mga ganitong klase ng bagay,” he explained.
Despite his concerns, Pablo reiterated that innovation remains essential, as long as it is properly regulated.
“Pero naniniwala po kami na innovation is very important, kailangan lang ma-regulate nang maayos and maprotektahan ‘yung mga artist talaga na naghihirap sa ganitong klase ng art,” he said.

SB19’s new album ‘Wakas at Simula’, released on March 27, features 24 tracks, including songs from their EP trilogy Pagsibol, Pagtatag, and Simula at Wakas, along with six new tracks. The album also includes collaborations with C-pop star Jolin for ‘Emoji’ and Japanese group BE:FIRST for the dance-pop track ‘Toyfriend.’
