Unilever Philippines Boosts Local Production Capabilities Manufacturing in Cebu

Unilever Philippines has announced a new collaborative manufacturing facility in Cebu dedicated to its Home Care business. The site will produce homegrown liquid products such as Surf Fabric Conditioners and Fabclean Liquids, supporting the growing demand across the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

Unilever executives, along with other representatives, led the ribbon‑cutting ceremony for the company’s new collaborative manufacturing facility in Cebu. Present were (middle) Van Nguyen-Thi-Bich, General Manager for Home Care, Unilever Greater Asia; (second from left) Navdeep Singh, Head of Supply Chain, Unilever Philippines and Vice President for Customer Operations, Unilever Greater Asia; and (leftmost) Atty. Joseph Fabul, Head of Communications, Corporate Affairs, and Sustainability for Unilever Philippines and Greater Asia

The initiative underscores Unilever Philippines’ commitment to serving Filipino families with locally relevant products. With reach into 9 out of 10 Filipino households, Unilever continues to advance its local footprint. Following the opening of its Cavite facility in September 2023, Unilever is advancing its strategy to bring manufacturing closer to the country’s diverse consumer markets.

Expanding Regional Supply Chain

The new 1,600-square-meter site in Mandaue City marks the company’s first manufacturing facility outside Luzon. This strategic expansion strengthens the company’s national footprint and advances a more localized, sustainable supply chain.

“Collaborating with local partners is essential to building a more agile and resilient local supply chain. It allows us to serve Filipino households faster and efficiently, all while fostering livelihood opportunities and strengthening regional economies.” said Van Nguyen-thi-bich, General Manager for Home Care Unilever Greater Asia.

By bringing products closer to consumers, Unilever Philippines is set to further improve operational agility, shorten lead times, lower transport costs, support regional livelihoods, and more importantly, reduce logistics-related emissions contributing to the company’s long-term net-zero agenda. The Cebu Home Care facility will integrate systems to reduce carbon footprint and port congestion by eliminating the need for sea shipments from Luzon to Visayas and Mindanao regions.

Digital-First Manufacturing

The facility is also expected to leverage the refreshed Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS), a transformative digital framework used across the company’s regional factories. UMS is a customized, evolved version of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) that integrates digital technologies, analytics, and artificial intelligence to create a leaner, more agile and efficient supply chain.

Sustaining Growth Momentum

The Philippines remains one of the fastest-growing FMCG markets in ASEAN, with steady momentum across Beauty & Wellbeing, Personal Care, Foods, and Home Care sectors. With the facility in Cebu, Unilever Philippines is positioned to capture growth while delivering greater value to consumers in Visayas and Mindanao.

“This collaborative manufacturing facility expands a more distributed production footprint across the country, supporting Filipino communities and strengthening consumer goods industry. It enables faster logistics and quicker access for consumers to Unilever products while reducing the overall carbon footprint.” said Navdeep Singh, Head of Supply Chain, Philippines and Vice President Customer Operations, Unilever Greater Asia.

In 2027, Unilever Philippines will honor 100 years of empowering Filipino communities with sustainable livelihoods and unmissable products rooted in local culture. Building on this centennial legacy, the company proudly reaffirms its commitment to innovation and inclusive growth for generations to come.
