Fans of Filipino cinema can relive one of the most acclaimed films in local movie history as the digitally restored and remastered version of Muro-Ami returns to the big screen beginning June 3 in select SM Cinemas.

Originally released in 1999 and hailed as the Best Picture winner at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Muro-Ami stars Cesar Montano in one of the most memorable performances of his career. The film also features Pen Medina, Jhong Hilario, Amy Austria, and Rebecca Lusterio.
The award-winning drama was directed by visionary filmmaker Marilou Diaz-Abaya and written by acclaimed screenwriters Ricky Lee and Jun Robles Lana.
The theatrical re-release is part of GMA Pictures’ efforts to preserve and celebrate Filipino cinematic classics through digital restoration and remastering. The project allows longtime fans to revisit the powerful film on the big screen while introducing its story and social relevance to a new generation of moviegoers.
Known for its hard-hitting portrayal of the controversial and dangerous fishing practice from which it takes its name, Muro-Ami remains one of the most significant films in Philippine cinema.
Moviegoers can catch the restored version in select SM Cinemas. For the complete list of participating theaters, fans may visit the social media pages of GMA Pictures. Tickets are also available through the SM Cinema app and website.
Get ready to shout “Arya!” once again as Muro-Ami makes its highly anticipated return to theaters.
