Amongst all the crowned Bb. Pilipinas in the history of the Philippines, Janina San Miguel was one of the most controversial and talked about beauty queen.
Filipino Beauty Queens pride themselves to be very good in answering the question-and-answer portion of the competition and other countries are actually threatened by how good the Filipino when answering in English.
However, despite all her confidence and preparation, Janina San Miguel found herself tongue-tied during the Q&A portion and was most remembered for it.
Her reply in the pageants question-and-answer was, “Well, my family’s role for me is so important b’coz there was the wa- they’re, they was the one who’s… very… Hahahaha… Oh I’m so sorry, Ahhmm… My pamily… My family… Oh my god… I’m… Ok, I’m so sorry… I… I told you that I’m so confident… Eto, Ahhmm, Wait… Hahahaha, Ahmmm, Sorry guys because this was really my first pageant ever b’coz I’m only 17 years old and ahahaha I, I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the tough 10. Hmmm, so… but I said dot my family is the most important persons in my life. Thank you.”
That was obviously unintentional, however, her honesty and openness allowed her to win and crowned as the Bb. Pilipinas-World 2008. Unfortunately, this circumstance led her to back down from the international competition.
She went off the radar for ten years. The reason is Janina San Miguel is now happily married to an Indian national Vishal Sahota and a full-time mother to their son. She chose the life out of the spotlight and is contented with her current life status.
In the end, she did stand up with her answer in the pageant ten years ago, “My family is the most important persons in my life.” And she does deserve to be the Bb. Pilipinas-World crown for realizing these words.
