  • Over 1,000 delegates to join congress in Manila and Iloilo
  • Committed to help educate the country’s future communicators, ABS-CBN and the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE) will hold the “Pinoy Media Congress Year 13” (PMC 13) on March 7 and 8 at the College of Holy Spirit Manila (CHSM) and the University of San Agustin (USA) in Iloilo.

The yearly media conference, which has served over 10,000 students since its launch, brings together leading media practitioners, communication professors, and students to help students gain a critical understanding of media and help them prepare them for a career in the industry.

A memorandum of agreement signing was held recently for PMC 13 with ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, PACE president Dr. Rowena Capulong-Reyes, and CHSM president Dr. Wynna Marie Medina in ABS-CBN and with ABS-CBN Integrated Corporate Communications head Kane Errol Choa, USA president Rev. Fr. Frederick Comendador, and PACE vice president for Visayas Ulderico Alviola in Iloilo.

About 2,000 students are expected to join this year’s congress, which will have an interactive live broadcast with speakers presenting in both Manila and Iloilo venues. The first day of the congress will discuss issues and trends in news media, as well as its role and impact in society, while the second day of the PMC will tackle the evolving media entertainment landscape and will feature leaders from digital agencies and creative content platforms alongside ABS-CBN media leaders.

Leading the speakers are ABS-CBN’s own industry experts like Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. president and co-founder Rina Lopez, ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs head Ging Reyes, ABS-CBN News Futures, Standards, and Practices head Chi Almario-Gonzalez, iWant head Elaine Uy-Casipit, iWant content head Ginny Ocampo, Black Sheep Films creative director Kriz Gazmen, ABS-CBN Film Restoration project head Leo Katigbak, ABS-CBN Creative Communication Management head Robert Labayen, Star Music head Roxy Liquigan, ABS-CBN business unit head Pete Dizon, ABS-CBN journalists Chiara Zambrano, Migs Bustos, and Karen Davila, and celebrity Alex Gonzaga.

Also sharing their knowledge and insights are Dentsu Aegis Network chief digital strategy officer Bea Atienza, iFlix country manager Sherwin Dela Cruz, Jollibee assistant vice president and head of brand communications, PR and digital marketing Arline Adeva, UP College of Mass Communications professor Dr. Rosel San Pascual, Preen.ph managing editor Jacque De Borja, and Youngstar.ph managing editor Gaby Gloria.

Students will also have a chance to dialogue face to face with ABS-CBN’s top leaders including president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, head of broadcast Cory Vidanes, ASB-CBN news and current affairs head Ging Reyes, and entertainment production head Laurenti M. Dyogi.

Over a hundred students will also get hands-on interactive learning experiences with a series of workshops conducted by ABS-CBN’s various lines of businesses including writing for TV with ABS-CBN head writer Jerry Gracio, producing video for YouTube with Adober Studios, radio broadcasting with DZMM anchor Ricky Rosales and reporter Zhander Cayabyab, creating documentaries with Jeff Canoy, Chiara Zambrano, and ABS-CBN DocuCentral, and election monitoring and citizen journalism with Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo. ABS-CBN is also offering special rates for delegates for ABS-CBN Studio Tours and ABS-CBN Studio XP.

Now on its 13th year, the PMC has received Awards of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines’ Anvil Awards in 2008 and the International Association of Business Communicators Philippines’ Philippine Quill Awards in 2007.
