Nicole’s husband Renly Tiñana is currently at the center of controversy after being suspended from the Bureau of Customs.
According to an exclusive report by GMA News, Tiñana, a Customs Security Guard at the Port of Manila was suspended pending an investigation regarding million-peso bank account transactions.
On June 20, Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero instructed that Tiñana be charged with grave misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of public service.
In an investigation conducted by the BOC’s Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), it was has found that Tiñana kept almost P2 million in different bank accounts.
With Tiñana’s plantilla position as Security Guard 2 and earning a monthly salary of P14,000, CIIS finds it unusual for his bank account to contain millions of transactions.
According to the report, the investigators took notice of a one-day deposit withdrawal transaction amounting to 2 million pesos.

The bank accounts were discovered after the arrest of a fake customs employee last May 20 who was supposed to deposit 150,000 pesos to Tiñana’s bank accounts.
Meanwhile, Tiñana’s lawyer claimed that the P150,000 carried by the fake employee was part of the salary of Tiñana’s wife, Hyala, who earns much more than him, and that the BOC should return the money as well as some of his personal property.
However, the CIIS didn’t consider the alibi and continued recommending the charges be filed.
“Sa investigation na ginawa ng CIIS, it would seem na hindi siya justified, kasi ang recommendation ng CIIS ay mag-file ng administrative charges,” said Maronilla
