If GMA Network had their biggest hit series last year titled “My Husband’s Lover,” then I think their newest primetime offering titled “Rhodora X” is one that can be considered monumental in its attempt as well as the deep issue it wants to tackle.
As early as now, I would like to congratulate the creative team behind this series! Bravo! I can say that this is one of this year’s TV offering which will change the mindset of people who doesn’t like to watch local TV series.
Both young Yasmien Kurdi and Jennylyn Mercado played by Kyle Ocampo and Anica Tindoy did great portayal as Angela and Rhodora respectively. Same goes to their parents played by Glydel Mercado and Gardo Versoza and the kidnapper played by Rez Cortez.
In “Rhodora X,” Jennylyn plays the title role of Rhodora who, after suffering physical and emotional abuse, will given birth to a new persona named Roxanne. Though this tackle mainly about having Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), a very rare disorder with only .01% to 1% of the general population, I think it’s still important and relevant to our times for people more aware and learn to accept these people with this kind of disorder. Like any other, they deserved to be treated as individuals who need more understanding, love, and support.
Aside from having DID, the series will also discuss the precipitating factors on how Rhodora will develop this disorder. As a viewer, you will also see some child abuse here which I think will make this pilot episode on SPG.
With the help of Dr. Ma. Bernadette Manalo-Arcena M.D, DPBP, FPPA, I am expecting that this series will not go out of the main topic which is Rhodora with DID. Her presence will be a good help as guide for the creative and the production team – this is perfect = clinical + creative.
Sorry but I can’t say more than this because I only watched the first day episode where Rhodora and Angela are still young. It’s just important for you guys to watch the pilot episode because this episode will reveal one of the reasons why Rhodora developed DID. Is it because of the environmental, biological factors or both?
I can’t say anything bad about this series! This is really one quality series TV has to offer this year. It’s worth the risk and I think, Filipinos really deserve this kind of show, something entertaining yet helpful and . “Rhodora X” is scheduled to start airing on January 27 on GMA Telebabad after “Carmela.”
