(Manila, Philippines – September 2020) Kazuhiro Gomi, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NTT Research, Inc., is scheduled to present during the Philippine Digital Convention (PH Digicon) 2020 hosted by PLDT Enterprise. This year’s overall theme is “IMPACT” with the aim to fire up attendees in adopting innovations and technologies and making a positive impact on society.

For the first time since PLDT Enterprise established PH Digicon and in its sixth year, this fully digital three-day event will be held in virtual event spaces from October 28 to October 30, 2020. It will be hosted and moderated by PLDT Group’s Ms. Cathy Yang.

PH Digicon 2020 will serve as the venue for global industry mavens, thought leaders, and pioneers in technology to come together to help drive technological enablement among enterprises throughout the country and region.

Kazu, as he is commonly known, is an experienced Silicon Valley major player with a long tenure of service with the NTT Group spanning 35 years. He joined NTT back in 1985 to conduct R&D on voice recognition related technology development. In 1998, he became the NTT Cyber Communications Laboratory Group’s Director of General Planning. Before assuming his current post with NTT Research, Inc., he was the president and CEO of NTT America, Inc., an operating arm of NTT Communications companies in Americas (from 2010 to 2019). During his 15-year stint with NTT America, Inc., he was the VP of Global IP Network Business Unit in 2004, and the Chief Operating Officer in 2009. He also served on the Board of Directors of both NTT Communications Corporation (from 2012 to 2019).

With a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Gomi also earned his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering degree (MSIE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the twin cities of Champaign and Urbana, and his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) degree at the Keio University of Tokyo, Japan.

In September 2009, Mr. Gomi landed on the Global Telecoms Business Power100, a list of the 100 most powerful and influential people in the telecommunications industry.

No one is more suited to speak during the plenary session about “The Impact of Research and Innovation” than Mr. Gomi. Recognized as one of the prominent experts in the field of fundamental and high-impact research advocating to deliver cutting-edge technologies and inventions for the betterment of society, he is well known in the ICT industry and highly sought after for his expertise and insights on global business trends and digital transformation.

NTT Research, Inc. is the global R&D arm of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) for fundamental and basic research fields. The 2020 Global Fortune 500 ranked the Japanese tech giant NTT as the third-largest IT service provider in the world.

NTT Research, Inc. is a corporate research center established in July 2019 at the heart of Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, California aiming to “Upgrade Reality” by conducting basic research and advanced technologies that promote positive change for humankind. With its three laboratories: the Physics and Informatics (PHI) Lab, the Cryptography and Information Security (CIS) Lab, and the Medical and Health Informatics (MEI) Lab, the research center delves into quantum computing, information security, cryptography and blockchain, and medical informatics to deliver precision medicine.

He is a man with a dream. “Our core mission is to create intellectual properties related to novel technologies that will fundamentally change the way society works. As such technologies mature, I expect a significant impact on our society,” says Gomi.

Mr. Gomi is a big fan of what he calls the “Gerstner style” of presentation, inspired by former IBM chairman Louis V. Gerstner. Get ready to watch Mr. Gomi as he brings his very own Kazu-style presentation to PH Digicon 2020.
