Fake news is a tense point of discussion in media today. On the Record: Breaking Fake News will discuss what it is, why it matters and what we can do about it.
On the panel are Jonathan Ong, Associate Professor of Media Studies at the University of Massachusetts—currently in the country to conduct research of the rise of the fake news industry—who will discuss the public’s responsibility to spot fake news.
CNN Philippines Senior Correspondent Ruth Cabal and Mark Saludes of the Photojournalists Center of the Philippines will explain rules of ensuring the quality of news in the newsroom and sanctions for erring journalists. Meanwhile, Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Ana Maria Banaag will join the discussion to delve the Duterte regime’s stand on free speech.
