Maricel Soriano remains one of the actresses who live a quiet life. She also doesn’t express her problems in social media.
In an article from Philstar.com, she revealed that she doesn’t like arguing with a person on social media. She doesn’t even have a social media account.
In the said article, Maricel also stated that she lasted in the entertainment industry without any help from social media. She believed actors and actresses should have privacy. She also cited that other actresses also maintained their dignity without social media.
“Tumagal naman ako nang ganito without social media. I believe ang mga artista dapat may privacy, dapat nirerespeto at minamahal, gaya nina Tita Susan Roces and Tita Gloria Romero who have maintained their dignity all these years. Bakit ako magpe-Facebook or Twitter, tapos iba-bash lang ako? Mahirap makipag-away sa hindi mo kakilala at ‘di mo nakikita, wala kang kalaban-laban walang mawawala sa kanila. Sa edad kong ito, babastusin lang ako? Huwag na.”
Maricel shared her message to celebrities who are a subject of bashers. She also encouraged them to sign off.
Citing why she didn’t want to go to social media, Maricel also didn’t want someone to throw any harsh comments to her at her age.
“Magdusa kayo, ginusto n’yo yan. Puwede namang wala ‘yan. E, di mag-ano ka, sign off. Kaya mas lalo pang ayaw ko nang mag-social media. Gusto mo pa ba yun, sa edad kong ito? Ayoko. Ang importante sa akin, ‘yung respeto. Ayoko ng binabastos ako nang ganoon. Saka ‘yung sasabihin ko, ita-type ko pa. Mapapagod pa ako. Kasi, sa social media, you lose all your mystery. Mas maganda yung behave na lang, huwag nang magmaldita lalo’t may edad na tayo.”
Maricel will star in an upcoming film, My 2 Mommies which will also star Paolo Ballesteros and Solenn Heusaff. The said movie is under the direction of Eric Quizon.
