Will Marian Rivera play ‘Beauty’ in the Philippine adaptation of ‘Descendants of the Sun?’

  • Jennylyn Mercado was reportedly removed as the leading lady of the Descendants of the Sun series
  • Fans are clamoring that Marian Rivera should play the role of “Beauty”
  • Dingdong Dantes addressed this matter

The Descendants of the Sun Philippine adaptation has now completed its cast except for one: the leading lady.

Jennylyn Mercado was earlier reported be taking on the role of Beauty or Doctor Kang Mo Yeon opposite Dingdong Dantes as Big Boss of the series. However, rumors say that Jennylyn was removed from the cast. She was also absent during the Descendants of the Sun media preview on June 20, 2019.

Jennylyn didn’t clarify if she would really be playing Beauty but she already expressed her excitement for the role.

Currently, she is starring in the romcom series Love You Two and is hosting StarStruck season 7.

Without the final decision for the series’ leading lady, fans are now clamoring for Marian Rivera to play Beauty since she suits the role.

However, her husband Dingdong addressed this matter and suggested that this is unlikely to happen.

“Alam niyo, siyempre, family first. Pinag-usapan namin yun,” the Kapuso star told PEP.ph after his latest endorsement event last July 10.

“Sa ngayon, may mas malaki siyang role na kailangan gampanan, which is to be the mother of the two kids that we have. Kahit secondary na yung pagiging wife muna, dahil siyempre iba yung stage ngayon dahil we have an infant,”Dingdong said.

During her launching event for Kultura X Marian collection last June 25, Marian also reacted to the fan clamor for her to be Dingdong’s leading lady.

“Thank you naman kung ako ang kino-consider nila doon, pero hindi talaga alam ang isasagot ko,” said the actress. “Ang hirap mamili. May newborn ako, two months pa lang. Ang hirap kasing magsabi na yes, kaya kong gawin, hindi naman pala…”

But should GMA Network offer the role to her, she is willing to give it a shot but on one condition, the adjustment of the location and schedule of the series to consider her responsibilities as a mother.

“Kung tatanungin mo ko, sabi ko nga, tuloy-tuloy na ‘to, itotodo ko na talaga,” Marian said, emphasizing that she wants to focus on motherhood first. Pero malay mo naman, ‘pag nilapitan ‘yung location, makakauwi nang maaga,” she said.

Although she is willing to work with Dingdong on the project, she does not want to assume that it would be given to her.

“Pero hindi ko talaga alam kung sinong kukunin nila,” she stressed.

Dingdong and Marian are now parents to three-year-old Zia and three-month-old Ziggy.

Marian gave birth to their second child on April 16, 2019, a week after GMA Network announced that Dingdong will top-bill the local adaptation of the Korean drama.

But Dingdong hinted that the announcement might happen this month.
