[28 October 2019] Leading technology services provider PLDT and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc (Smart) have teamed up with the Miguel Romero Polo Field in Calatagan, Batangas to provide Smart WiFi connectivity during the polo event at the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Panlilio, PLDT Chief Revenue Officer and Smart President and CEO.
“We want to give our athletes and guests in the South Luzon polo facility a world-class experience by providing them with high speed connectivity, so that they can stay in touch with their families and supporters while they are here in the country,” PLDT Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise Juan Victor I. Hernandez.
The Miguel Romero Polo Field will host the matches along with the Iñigo Zobel polo facility. Brunei royalty, as well as athletes from Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines will battle it out beginning November 24, ahead of the SEA Games opening ceremonies on November 30.
This is also one of the sporting events that aims to get several gold medals for the Philippines early in the prestigious regional competition.
“We are excited about this partnership with PLDT and Smart as we go hi-tech and world-class for the Polo events during the upcoming SEA Games competition,” said Philippine National Federation of Polo Players (PNFPP) founding director and House Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero.
Romero is also part of the Philippine Polo team, together with Gus Aguirre, Tommy Bitong, Jay de Jesus, Jam Eusebio, Anthony Filamor, Coco Garcia, Santi Juban, Ed Lopez, Marty Romualdez, Tonio Veloso and Noel Vecinal.
“Our athletes are training intensively for this competition with the hopes of bringing in glory and honor to the Philippines,” Romero added.
