Despite the controversy surrounding his relationship with his in-laws, Matteo Guidicelli has always hoped that one day he and Mommy Divine, mother of his wife Sarah Geronimo, would one day get along.
In an exclusive talk for Toni Gonzaga’s YouTube Vlog, the actor shared his experience on the controversial wedding that has transpired last February.
“Before we got married, grabe ‘yung ride namin. Of course, the ride never ends. But a week before the lockdown, February 20, 2020, we got married. Very small wedding. A week after was supposed to be our wedding with our friends. But the lockdown happened. Everything was planned,” Guidicelli said.
Matteo Guidicelli then shared what his dream wedding would be like. “Of course, my dream was to really have a wedding-wedding. Actually, a military wedding was my dream with all my relatives, friends, people who have been with me since day one,” Matteo revealed
But the wedding that has transpired, was a private one which was to his wife’s liking. “Her naman, very private. She really wanted it private, solemn with just family and loved ones.”
Even though it was a private one, the actor believes it wasn’t a complete wedding especially that Sarah Geronimo’s family wasn’t there. “Of course [her family attending] would have completed my wife’s dream.”
But just like any other in-laws, Matteo Guidicelli hopes that one day the feud between him and Sarah Geronimo’s mom will come to an end, “In God’s time, [we are] positive, things will heal. Things will be better.”
The actor imagines their families together in a good relationship just like any other family. Even though it’s not possible as of now, the actor hasn’t lost hope.
“I imagine that all the time. Not just for me, but obviously primarily for my wife and also my family, my parents. I believe our parents raised us up and worked so hard for us that one day, we could marry a woman or a man, and two families would combine.
“You know, having drinks together, pasta together. I think that’s our family’s dream. So ‘yun. One day, it will happen,” he said.
“At the end of the day, it was a beautiful day of two people synergizing together becoming as one. That was one of the best days of my life. It wasn’t perfect but I consider it the best day of my life,” he added.
Matteo and Sarah were married in a private wedding ceremony where Sarah’s parents were not invited given their opposition to Matteo as a husband for their daughter. Mommy Divine crashed the wedding where an altercation reportedly took place.
