The still franchise-less ABS-CBN continues to provide Filipinos the entertainment they need amid the pandemic as the Kapamilya Network is cooking new shows for the second half of 2021.

Despite the losses it received in 2020 after its shutdown, the Network has started releasing new shows at the start of a new year. Included in the 2021 lineup of Kapamilya shows were Huwag Kang Mangamba and Init sa Magdamag.

Meanwhile, more shows are coming to ABS-CBN, and here is what LH knows so far:

Marry Me, Marry You (September)

In an interview with G3 San Diego on Monday, August 16, actor Paulo Avelino revealed that his show, Marry Me, Marry You, will be released in September. It will be the first show that Kapamilyas will get to witness the Paulo Avelino-Janine Gutierrez tandem.

Though the exact airing date has yet to be announced, Paulo ascertained that it would be coming next month.

“After this ECQ, we are gonna go back sa bubble to finish more scenes. But I think we are around half,” said the actor.

The Broken Marriage Vow (TBA)

Another upcoming Kapamilya show is The Broken Marriage Vow, a Filipino adaptation of the hit BBC series, Doctor Foster.

The show will be Jodi Sta. Maria’s follow-up project after the success of the drama series Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin which ended on March 2021.

As early as July, the team of The Broken Marriage Vow has started production and shot their scenes in Baguio City.

The main cast includes Zanjoe Marudo, Sue Ramirez, and Zaijan Jaranilla.

The series also comprises of Jane Oineza, Joem Bascon, Art Acuna, Susan Africa, Malou Crisologo, Ronni Lazaro, Franco Laurel, and Rachel Alejandro.

Viral (TBA)

Starring Joshua Garcia, Charlie Dizon, Jake Cuenca, and Dimple Romana, Viral is another upcoming Kapamilya series that is hoped to be released in the latter half of 2021.

Joining the cast are Jameson Blake, Rommel Padilla, Ria Atayde, Maxene Magalona, Vance Larena, Kaila Estrada, Markus Paterson, Gian Magdangal, Louise Abuel, Karina Bautista, and Aljon Mendoza.

As early as February, RCD Narratives, the company behind the upcoming show, already teased Kapamilyas of how good Viral is via its trailer.

Viral tells the story of a young woman (Charlie) who gets involved in a scandalous video that eventually affects her family and the people around her.

iWantTFC’s digital series, Hoy, Love You! which, reunited Joross Gamboa and Roxanne Guinoo, is already set to have a second season.

This was announced on Sunday, July 31, after the show’s celebrity screening, making the main cast, along with the show’s director, Theodore Boborol, extremely happy.

In the second season of Hoy, Love You!, a new set of actors will be playing a huge part in the relationship of Jules (Joross) and Marge (Roxanne). Ritz Azul will play Mika, the nemesis of Jules and Marge; Hasna Cabral, who will serve as Kitty, Mika’s sidekick; and Lou Veloso, as Lolo Bruno, a strict grandpa of his grandkids.

A digital anthology series that plumbs the depths of the overreliance on social media and the internet, especially among GEN Z kids. It premiered on June 5 with its pilot episode, Reroute.

Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri, Seth Fedelin, and Andrea Brillantes, known as The Gold Squad, led the show’s current season.

Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series (Production will start)

The much-anticipated superhero series Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series of ABS-CBN will be starting its production by September. Meanwhile, the show’s lead actress, Jane de Leon, will soon be making her exit on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, as announced by ABS-CBN early in July.

Jane was chosen for the coveted role in July 2019, after an open audition that drew 300 aspirants, including established actresses and fresh aspirants.

He’s Into Her (Season 2)

On August 1, the nakakakilig pairing of Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano in He’s Into Her aired its final episode.

However, during its virtual concert, the Benison Ball on August 8, Star Cinema’s Managing Director Olivia Lamasan, ABS-CBN’s Chief Operating Officer for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, and Star Magic Head Laurenti Dyogi, confirmed that the show will be renewed for another season.

In the first season, the series focused on Max (Belle), a hardworking girl from the province, as she navigated her new life as a student at Benison International School. Because of her headstrong and principled personality, Max clashed with Deib (Donny), a bully and a heartthrob.

Season one ended on a cliffhanger, but with season 2 confirmed, fans of the show will finally get the answers they are waiting for.

Details of the second season, including its filming and premiere dates, have yet to be announced.

Expected to also return as cast members are Kaori Oinuma, Rhys Miguel, Jeremiah Lisbo, Vivoree Esclito, Joao Constancia, Criza Taa, Melizza Jimenez, Shopie Reyes, Ashley del Mundo, Gello Marquez, Dalia Verde, and Limer Veloso.

Pangako, Ikaw Lang (formerly Tanging Mahal)

KathNiel fans’ waiting is over as ABS-CBN, back in 2020, announced that Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla would lead the cast of the teleserye Tanging Mahal which was originally due to be aired that year.

Unfortunately, because of the Network’s untimely demise, the show was delayed. It was then renamed Pangako Ikaw, Lang, which is about experiencing ‘timeless love.’

As per ABS-CBN Entertainment, the show’s initial setting will be partly in Mexico and will be produced by Dreamscape Entertainment.

As of this writing, production, taping, and release date has yet to be announced.
