The longest-running teleserye faces its 20th Kapuso show rival as Legal Wives makes its exit, three months after the premiere.
Now on its sixth year on air, ABS-CBN’s top-rating TV series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, shows no sign of leaving its faithful viewers just yet. It is set to introduce veteran actors to its ever-growing cast, as Cardo Dalisay’s (Coco Martin) confrontation with his nemeses, Renato Hipolito (John Arcilla), Lily Hidalgo (Lorna Tolentino), Art Padua (Tirso Cruz III), Lito Valmoria (Richard Gutierrez), and the special police group, Black Ops, headed by P/Maj. Albert de Vela gets even more intense. A new chapter unfolds in its sixth season, marking Julia Montes’s entry to the show as Dalisay’s new love interest.
Throughout its six years of being on-air, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has confronted a total of 19 rival shows from GMA Network. Its most recent rival, Legal Wives, aired its finale last November 12 Friday. The Dennis Trillo-led series adjusted from its original time slot to face FPJAP when Alden Richards-headlined The World Between Us, took a season break last August. FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and Legal Wives had an intense free TV battle, with the latter managing to keep its lead over the said period. The Kapamilya series, however, claimed domination online, as it posted record-breaking concurrent viewership on YouTube.
It is also worth noting that it almost defeated the Kapuso series on several occasions in AGB Nielsen TV rating. Such a feat is undoubtedly mind-blowing for a series with limited free TV coverage. FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and another ABS-CBN primetime show are airing on free TV via A2Z Channel 11 and TV5.
With Legal Wives ‘departure from the competition, the Coco Martin-starrer faces its 20th rival Kapuso show. I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, which stars Heart Evangelista and the new Kapuso leading man, Richard Yap, replaces Legal Wives in its timeslot. Interestingly, this brand new bout between the ABS-CBN show and a Kapuso contender comes before the long-anticipated arrival of Sharon Cuneta’s character to the Kapamilya show. The award-winning actress makes her teleserye debut via FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano this November. She is joined by fellow seasoned actor Roi Vinzon and the returning Kapamilya star, John Wayne Sace.
Follow the thrilling rematch between FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, and I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, starting this Monday, November 15, right after TV Patrol and 24 Oras on ABS-CBN and GMA Network, respectively.
