The Kapamilya dancer and TV host started on the show as one of its dancers before getting elevated as one of the mainstay performer and supporting host in 2020.
Jackie Gonzaga, popularly known as “Ate Girl” delighted netizens on Monday, October 24, when she took on her first lead hosting role on It’s Showtime via the new segment, Girl on Fire.
It was the first time the former mainstay dancer assumed a hosting assignment of such importance. She notably rose to prominence via the now-defunct segment, KapareWHO, where she earned her current moniker “Ate Girl.”

One of Gonzaga’s fans, shared her excitement in a tweet. “UNEXPECTED. sumasayaw ka lang kanina tapos ngayon naging host ka sa isang segment. JACKIE GONZAGA’S GROWTH in IT’S SHOWTIME.

Ann Paras underscored the fact that jackie, herself, is a skilled dancer, which makes her a perfect choice to be one of the dance segment’s hosts.

Vice Ganda is yet to return to the show on Wednesday, October 26.
It remains to be seen whether Gonzaga will keep her new post. With the warm reception of her debut, it is safe to say she made quite an impression on the big bosses—who visited the studio that day—enough to consider giving her more hosting gigs.
