On November 3, fans of the AlDub [Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza] pairing took to Twitter to react to Kapuso star Maine Mendoza’s interview revealing her experience with some of their fans.
On Twitter, some fans posted various photos claiming that Mendoza and Richards had a ‘deeper’ connection other than being a love team.

Other netizens and supporters expressed worry toward some fans for their fanaticism over the pairing, while others called out fans for posting misinformation on their social media accounts.

In her interview with entertainment vlogger-comedian-talent manager Ogie Diaz, Mendoza talked about her encounters with some AlDub fans who haven’t accepted that she and Richards are only a love team.
“Ngayon ba si Maine, napaunawa na ba sa mga AlDub fans na, ‘Si Alden, magkaibigan kami, screen partners lang kami, love team lang kami dahil ito ‘yung gusto niyo pero iba pa rin ang personal naming [gusto].”
She revealed that she contacted and personally called out some of the fans who spread misinformation about the former Kapuso tandem.
“‘Yung kasi iba kapit na kapit sila na mag-asawa kami ni Alden, may anak na kami. So, ‘yon ‘yung hindi ko rin ma-tolerate. I tried calling them out couple of times already pero ayaw po rin talaga nilang maniwala.
“Marami na po akong mga tao na dinirect message sa Twitter to tell them na wala pong katotohanan, as in ako na po personally nagri-reach out sa kanila, not through other people, ako na iyong nagme-message.”
Admittedly the Kapuso star grew tired of calling them out.
“Pero Mama Ogs, ang reply pa rin nila sakin, ‘Hindi si Maine iyan, admin iyan ng account ni Maine. Umabot na lang ako sa point na nakakapagod na mag-explain. I don’t think there’s something I can do para sa mga taong ito.”
Mendoza and Richards became a worldwide phenomenon in 2015 thanks to their fans in the Philippines and outside the country. Their team-up began in the Kalyeserye segment of Eat Bulaga.
After years of working, Mendoza and Richards opted to proceed with their respective careers.
Also, Mendoza recently announced her engagement with the actor-politician Arjo Atayde.
