Known for his genre-blending and ethereal soundscapes, enigmatic singer-songwriter and indie-electronic producer, shy-c, is set to unveil his latest EP. Titled ‘Out Of My Head’, the EP will be available on all major digital streaming platforms on 17 November 2023, Friday.
‘Out of My Head’ comprises of 5 tracks, and marks a new chapter of shy-c’s creative exploration in embracing new sonic territories. Oscillating between musical minimalism and maximalism, the EP was written with overthinkers in mind and offers a musical reflection of living in our own heads, and its profound impact on our lives. The titular track highlights a collective yearning for mental peace, not just for one’s self, but also for our loved ones.
A notable track, ‘Dancing on a Sinking Ship’ was released earlier in June this year, marking shy-c’s return to the music scene after a period of creative hibernation. While struggling to create music he was happy with, it was within the confines of his bedroom that he found solace and inspiration – one of the many introspective moments that the enchanting chimes of the opening synth bells broke through his creative block.
The ‘Out of My Head’ EP delves further into different volumes of shy-c’s never-ending search for an escape from the chaos of everyday life. ‘Drown’ is an angsty retrenchment anthem referencing pop-punk sensibilities, with guitars and distortion taking a prominent role in the song.
‘Decompression’ invites listeners to sink into the comforts of their chairs after navigating a long day of life’s challenges. shy-c describes the track as “the feeling of wishing the world would stop turning and existing, just so you could prolong the peace and escape of sitting in your chair in the comfort of your four walls.” ‘
Meteor’ combines hyperpop’s frenetic energy with pop-punk’s raw emotion, presenting the essence of surrendering to the relentless pace of life and embracing its chaotic beauty.
