Kapamilya star Chie Filomeno has fired back at a netizen who referred to her as a “starlet” amid her social media spat with former GirlTrends member Dawn Chang.
The online exchange came after a netizen commented on the publicized feud between Chie and Dawn, calling it a “Battle of starlets.” The netizen’s post read: “Battle of starlets hahahahahahahahhaha.”
Unfazed, Chie responded sharply on Tiktok: “Oh tapos? Nakakabobo. Go maniwala lang kayo sa mga post doon. Hahahaha.”
The actress’ reaction sparked a mix of opinions online. Some poked fun at her for engaging with the basher. Others advised her to channel her energy into improving her craft.
The drama between Chie and Dawn began when Dawn appeared on the online show ‘The Men’s Room’ and shared an anecdote about a past altercation with a fellow celebrity. While Dawn did not directly name anyone, she dropped hints that fueled speculation she was referring to Chie, including a remark that the celebrity shared the same initials as veteran columnist Cristy Fermin.
Chie, denying Dawn’s claims, took to X to address the issue: “Oh bakit nahiya ka pa pangalanan ako @thedawnchang? About the rehearsal, that NEVER happened. At alam ng prod sa Showtime yun,” she wrote, asserting that the production team from It’s Showtime could back her statement.
Chie also urged Dawn to move on, saying: “Naka-move on na lahat. Andoon pa din si ate mo Dawn. 2025 na, tumigil ka na kung hindi mo kaya mag name drop. Last ko na to.”
While Chie actively defended herself, Dawn has remained silent on the matter. Instead, she posted a seemingly unrelated update on social media, flaunting her new lash extensions with the caption: “Best. Lash Extensions. Ever.”
Netizens interpreted Dawn’s post as a sign she was unbothered by the controversy.
Both actresses were part of the now-defunct GirlTrends, an all-female dance group from ABS-CBN’s ‘It’s Showtime’. Their recent word war has reignited discussions about their history in the group and previous controversies.
