“Kasi minsan kailangan mabilis po.” That’s how ‘Ang Mutya ng Section E’ lead star Ashtine Olviga explained her decision to ride Angkas when a fan recently spotted her on the go.
The fan captured Ashtine on video as she put on a helmet and hopped onto a motorcycle—cool, calm, and ready to ride.
Turns out, being a bit of an action star is something Ashtine is starting to embrace.
“Napatunayan ko po no’ng maging Jayjay ako [sa ‘AMNSE’] na kaya ko pala… Gusto ko pong mag-action. Dream role ko po ‘yan,” she said, recalling how people used to doubt her toughness because of her soft-spoken image.
Though she’s been spotted a few times while riding Angkas or even commuting via MRT, Ashtine said the public’s recognition of her hasn’t been overwhelming.
“Minsan naman, parang mine-make sure muna nila, ‘’Yan ba si Ashtine?’ Tapos nagpi-picture po kami. Pero hindi naman po siya like ‘yung nagiging uncomfortable… Pinakamarami na po ang tatlo [na fans].”
And no, she doesn’t have a personal car in Manila—though there is one back home used by her mom. For now, she’s focused on more long-term goals.
“Ang pinag-iipunan ko po talaga now is magka-bahay sa Manila para ‘pag dumadalaw sila Mama, kasya at kumportable kami… mas nag-iisip po ako ngayon to spend my money wisely.”
As she celebrates her birthday this May 19, Ashtine shared her most heartfelt wish: “Genuine happiness lang po ‘yung wish ko kasi ‘pag may genuine happiness ka sa heart mo… mas madali kang makakapagbigay ng pagmamahal sa mga tao sa paligid mo.”
And it looks like good things are indeed on the horizon. Aside from her rising acting career and fan-favorite portrayal in AMNSE, Ashtine is diving into business with Ash, her own unisex perfume line under Viva Beauty. Priced at P360 per bottle (or P1,400 for a bundle of three), Ash is available on Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok Shop.
Viva Beauty describes Ash as capturing the essence of Ashtine:
“Boldly authentic, quietly confident, and unapologetically unboxed by societal norms.”
Ashtine was deeply involved in the process—from scent blending to logo design—proving she’s not just a performer but a budding entrepreneur, too. And yes, she gets a cut from every bottle sold.
