The Philippines has earned another global accolade as Solaire Resort North officially secured the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Largest Glass Tube Installation with its landmark art piece, ‘The Mangrove.’
Unveiled during a grand ceremony at the resort’s lobby in Quezon City, the breathtaking glass structure—measuring 25.396 meters high—was validated by an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator. The event was witnessed by hundreds of guests and employees, marking both the installation’s debut and the resort’s first anniversary.
Crafted by renowned American sculptor Nikolas Weinstein in collaboration with the Habitus Design Group, The Mangrove consists of over 16,000 hand-crafted glass tubes supported by a steel framework. It draws inspiration from the resilient mangrove forests of the Philippines, symbolizing strength, growth, and resilience—qualities Solaire says mirror its brand ethos.
“We didn’t want to simply build another resort. We wanted to create something that would stand out for its creativity, elegance, and meaning,” said Gregory Hawkins, Board Director, President, and COO of Bloomberry Resorts Corporation. “This achievement underscores our commitment to excellence, and we take immense pride in being recognized on a global scale.”
Beyond its monumental size, ‘The Mangrove’ captivates with its architectural flow—glass elements twisting and rising through the resort’s three-story lobby like tree branches stretching toward light. According to Weinstein, the piece evolved organically from the space it was designed to inhabit.
“It got huge not because that was the intention. It was more like, ‘Here’s a big space. What do you want to do with it?’” said Weinstein. “It was a challenge, sometimes frustrating—but worth it.”
Solaire Resort North opened its doors in 2024 as the second major property under Bloomberry Resorts Corporation, following the success of Solaire Resort Entertainment City in Parañaque. The group also manages Jeju Sun Hotel and Casino in South Korea.
Now a record holder, ‘The Mangrove’ adds a cultural and artistic dimension to Solaire Resort North’s already prestigious reputation. Guests are invited to witness this world-class installation in person, further positioning the resort as a premier destination for luxury, creativity, and innovation. (with reports from Lau Balocos)
